In February 2006, after visiting Authaya, I still had one more day in Bangkok. I decided to book a tour to Kanchanaburi. I used to hear about the Death Railway and the war cemetery in that province and planned to see them for a long time. A one day tour to Kanchanaburi cost 500 baht (same as the tour to Authaya) and it was one of the interesting tours I've done in Thailand. At 8:00am, a van from the travel company came to pick me up at my hotel. Our tour guide was a Thai girl. The first place we visited [View Full Entry]

Authaya Asia » Thailand » Central Thailand » Ayuthaya
After leaving India in late January 2006, I flew to Bangkok on the way back home in Hanoi. I decided to stay in Bangkok for a few days. I've been to Thailand 5 times, therefore on that trip, my purpose was to visit Authaya and Kanchanaburi. I booked a one day tour to Ayuthaya through an agent on Khao San road (500 baht for the tour). At 7:30am, a mini bus came to my hotel and picked me up. There were about 10 tourists in the mini bus and a Thai tour guide, but in fact, he was also the guide [View Full Entry]

22 January 2006 was the day when I stepped my foot in India and started my adventure in the Golden Triangle (Delhi - Agra - Jaipur). After traveling to Egypt and China as well as other countries, I always dreamed of visiting India, and on this day, my dream came true. From Hanoi, I flew to Bangkok on Air Asia then connected my flight to New Delhi on Air India. My flight BKK - New Delhi with Air India was delayed 24 hours, however the hotel that I booked in New Delhi still sent a car to the airport twice and [View Full Entry]

Mandalay - Bagan - Yangon Asia » Burma » Bagan
In February 2005, I visted Myanmar for 11 days. I was in Cambodia (Angkor temples) and Indonesia (Borobudur temple) some years before this trip. I always thought about my next destination "Myanmar", as I wanted to see the thousands temples in Bagan, which are one of the must-sees in South East Asia. From Hanoi, I flew to Bangkok, then took a 15-hour train to Chiang Mai. Air Mandalay flew once a week from Chiang Mai to Mandalay on ATR72. I booked this flight even 3 months before my trip. Leaving Mandalay airport for the town by taxi, my first impression of [View Full Entry]

Japan - my dream came true Asia » Japan » Tokyo
Since I was a little girl, I always dreamed about going to Japan. The country, people and their culture had attracted me so much that I decided to learn Japanese. We all know that Japanese is a very difficult language. For 3 years, I learned Japanese at the evening class. In fact, I learned Japanese even before English. 15 years after that decision, I had a business visa and air ticket for a trip to Japan. In November 2004, the Huế Hospital Construction Project in central Vietnam that I promoted was successful. The prize for my efforts was a 8-day business [View Full Entry]

This shot was taken in September 2004 on my visit to Bali and Java islands.
Indonesia is my favorite country in SE Asia. I visited this beautiful country in September 2004, just a week after the bomb blast at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta. I decided to visit Bali and Java islands, as I wanted to see Borobudur temple near Yogyakarta. From Hanoi, I had to take 7 flights Hanoi - Sai Gon - Singapore - Denpasar - Yogyakarta - Singapore - Sai Gon - Hanoi on Garuda Indonesia (US$650 for only flights). I did not include Jakarta on this visit. The first place in Bali that I visited was Sari club bombing memorial site, where [View Full Entry]

While waiting at Don Muang airport in Bangkok for connecting my flight to Dubai, I went into a bookshop and saw a book about Laos. On the book cover, there was a picture of a Laotian kid sitting on a big jar at the Plain of Jars. It was so attractive that I decided I wanted to go there. 4 months later, in January 2004, I had a 8 day holiday at Tet (Vietnamese lunar new year) and was ready to go after searching a lot of information. From Hanoi, I flew to Luang Prabang, then took a local bus to [View Full Entry]

In September 2003, a friend told me that a travel company in Hanoi was going to organize a tour to Egypt. I had never expected that someday I would step my foot in Africa to see the pyramids and Sahara desert, as it was unrealistic for me to travel so far away. At that time, after the SARS, Emirates Airlines offered a great airfare from Bangkok to Dubai then Cairo, and fortunately, the travel company had found enough tourists (from both Hanoi and Sai Gon) for our tour. I was the youngest member on the trip. Having traveled to 15 different [View Full Entry]

After a 6-hour flight from BKK on Emirate Airlines, we arrived in Dubai at mid night. We had to transit there for a day on the way to Cairo. My trip was in September 2003, a long time ago, so my photos may look old now. It was also the first time I visited an Arabian country. Despite a short transit, we still had enough time to visit some places in Dubai. We all were amazed by the development of the city, where 30 years ago, it used to be a desert. The Burj Al Arab hotel was the highlight on [View Full Entry]

Cambodia was my first experience as a solo traveler. In December 2002, on a business trip in Sai Gon, I decided to take a bus to Phnom Penh, spend a day there, then head to Siem Reap to see the Angkor temples. At that time, the road from Bavet border gate to Phnom Penh was not improved yet, thus the road condition was very bad and it took us almost a day to get to Phnom Penh. The bus stopped at Capitol guest house in Phnom Penh. At their agent, we could book a tour to the Killing Fields and S-21 [View Full Entry]
