Now in Peru

South America » Peru » Cusco » Cusco
Actually I was in Peru already when I wrote the last post, but didn't have time to tell you about it. The day after the spring solstice, we drove from La Paz to Tiquina, the narrowest part of Lake Titicaca. It was really interesting, the way we crossed. We had to get out of the bus, which ended up in a long queue. One by one, the buses were driven onto barges (angled pieces of wood were placed in front of the barge until the front wheels of the bus went on it, after which the barge had sunk enough to [View Full Entry]

I still haven't taken a shower yet, as we don't have a hotel room---we are taking the night train to Oruro at midnight, and will then return to La Paz by bus. This is the first time I have had [View Full Entry]

Under popular pressure, I have signed up for a travel blog... Will be in the Salar de Uyuni tomorrow, which means I will have no internet or phone access for about 4 days. I have been advised not to take any showers in the freezing cold either. According to other travellers, this has been the most amazing experience after Machu Picchu, so I am really looking forward to it. [View Full Entry]
