100 KM mark for Indian kayakers Hi Tanaz, it is great to know that you attempted kayaking 100+ km (140 km). I agree what you wrote above. It is no easy feat in good weather, and terrifyingly humbling in bad weather. I did 100 km crossing in Estonia but it was not sea, it was downstream, it was freezing with sub-zero temp, it was never-ending meanderings, it was composed of a few rapids, and it was almost non-stop except two slots of 20 minutes break for food/loo. It was a Marathon which I went to participate without any fitness training or paddling trials. I thought this would be an exciting trip for brews and meeting new friends and a couple of kms later, I could quit and get ride to base as I was told. But things changed drastically as I got into the kayak and down a few miles, saw men and women in their 70s racing. For some it was racing for winning, for some it was taking part in it to complete it, for some it was a social gathering as the winter giving way to summer. What kept me going for 100 km - I have no idea. I still cherish the good memories of the trip and loss of a damaged waterproof camera and a pair of polarized shades.
I like to do it in India, and would want to do it without any landing until completing the 100 km mark. But the 30+ ºC temperature is going to be a serious deterrent for the trip. I would do it probably two years later.
Best regards

I just came across your blog while reading about your night kayak trips.
Your plea to the Governer is really moving and I hope soo very much that you got a timely reply.

Thank you. Hi Gunjan, thank you so much, but no, the LG never did respond. They came, locked up the place, put their signboards up and just claimed ownership overnight. of course, the high court single and divisional bench ruled in our favour, but they they have appealed in the Supreme Court where the case has been sitting for the past year and a half. The judges even mentioned in their order that what the administration is doing is nothing more than harassment. But what do they care, they're not paying to keep the case going. to harass us. We pay their side we pay our side; and then we wait...for justice? how? How could i be given what the courts call justice after we have been bled dry. Bled dry of patience, of endurance, of money, of hope, of belief; at the rate our courts are going, by the time they finally deliver their version of justice there may be nothing left of us but empty, emotion-less shells. This case has killed one generation already; not only of owner but also lawyer. Let's see how many generations it takes for 'justice'.
Hi Tanaz,
I have a few inquiries that are off the topic here and related to Kayaking/rafting. Is there and e-mail ID where I can send you my queries??
Do let me know.
Thanks,
Astad.
Great Experience!!!!!! Hi Tanaz,
I just want to say thank you for your tour to the mangroves at the Have lock island. You have great energy and you attend people with great hospitality.I would highly recommend a kayaking trip with her as you feel safe and confident. My wife was a little bit hesitant in the beginning as she doesn't know swimming but after some times she was more confident than me and was sailing in the sea independently.Even if you do not want to go for kayaking just talk to her and she will give you the right advise for your stay in Andaman.
hope to see you some time again!!!!!!!

Easier to roll in the swimming pool - - where I learned, but it didn't always translate successfully to the river! But it was a nice safe environment to learn the technique. I assumed "Sexy roll" was because of the provocative hip-flip that it takes to right yourself?
Awesome kayaking! Just wanted to say thanks once again for the great kayaking trip you took us on last week! Had no idea that it would be so simple, and it was so nice not to have the roar of engines in the cool waters off Havelock amongst the mangroves! Simply awesome. You rock girl!
Tanaz is lovely and has got a great spirit...I cant wait to learn some sea Kayaking with you in the Andamans...
The quirky way you've described Camp is funny and well said...
And what do u mean u dont know what i do...M SUPERWOMAN!!!
Much Energy
Hey Tanaz, it has been a long time! Do you remember me telling you long time ago that I wished to learn whitewater kayaking? Well I did!! In March-April in Shivpuri with a different company and that was fabulous. I'm planning to head back there in a few months to pursue the sport as I've fallen in love with it. And I can roll my kayak as well....haha, though not so much success if I flip in a rapid, but hey! I'm learning. Do get back and hope to meet you on the river someday soon.
andaman-bound to become the most sort after tourist destination Its a pity that people go to other part ignoring our own beautiful andaman which has lot to offer.
