Hi Everyone-here we are on our Fast Ferry leaving the port of Patra, Greece-took the 3 hr bus ride to this port from Athens to catch the ferry-21 hr boat ride (as Dad calls it-our Cruise). The ferry takes us to Ancona, Italy-where we take the train to Rome-approx 4 hr train ride. We should be in Rome sometime tomorrow afternoon. We enjoyed Greece but are looking forward to Rome now-and great Italian food! Don't get worried if we don't email or blog for a few days as sometimes we don't have internet or it doesn't connect. We were sitting in the reception area on the ferry for1 1/2 hrs to see if we could get an upgrade-they have to wait until they leave port to see if there are any vacancies-we couldn't book a cabin ... read more

Hi everyone-here we are on the ferry just about to leave for Acona (not sure of that spelling) still vin Greece. From there we catch the train for Rome. The ferry takes approx 21 hrs and the train another 4 hr-so we shoulkd ve in Rome sometime tomorrow afternoon. Don't worry if we don't email you for a couple of days-sometimes we don't have internet where we are staying. We enjoyed Greece but are now looking forward to Rome. Hi All-we are still in Greece-took an all day bus tour (7:30am to &7:30pm) to the ruins in Greece-did a lot of climbing up steep rubble they call a paved pathway but the sites were certainly worth it. Saw the Acropolis, Parthenon and Poseidon temple (not the movie-lol) and the old Olympic site and the Athens Museum. Off tomorrow on our way to Rome via the Fast Ferry (Cruise as Dad calls it) so that will take us over a day as the ferry is 21 hrs and we have approx 4 hrs or more to get to the ferry. If we don't blog tomorrow it is because we are in transit. The drivers are scary here-glad we are not renting a car!!! The food is fantastic-too huge though. Hi Everyone-here we are in Piraeus-the port town where we came from the 21 hr ferry(cruise as Dad calls it!). Greece is boiling hot-tooooo hot-like 90. We are off today to Athens and hope to take a tour of the sites today and might move on tomorrow to get away from the heat. We have an air cond hotel but it kills you going outside. Ah-the life of a tourist-lol. Glad you are getting your shots Anj & hope they don't make you ill. Too bad work is so stressful-but you can relax on the beach soon! Hi everyone-finally got my CRUISE!! lol. We are on a beautiful Fast Ferry-a huge ship-take about 2 hrs to load passengers , tour buses and transport trucks (over 60 of these)-on our way to Greece. The trip by boat takes 21 hrs-our rail pass covers sleeping is a dorm-boys in one and girls in another-so Dad upgraded to a sleeping compartment as I didn't want to sleep with other people. We have a great cabin-and this is a luxury boat just like a cruise ship. We are wandering down-or up?? to the Disco Lounge when it opens-@ 10:30pm-if I can stay awake long enough. Hi Everyone-including doggies We are finally in Venice after arriving on a all night train ride-not so much fun!. Venice is spectacular but very expensive so we are only staying 1 night and off to Greece tomorrow-have a 12 hr boat ride to Greece-hope to see lots on that trip. We saw everything we wanted to see in Venice as we arrived very early this morning. Plan to take few days to relax in Greece. Dad will send some pictures. We had a fantastic dinner tonight-dad has sea bass (not for me!) I had spaghetti-and gelatto. Very tired as we did not sleep well on the train-so early to bed-9:00pm and up early to catch the train to the boat. Hi Everyone-we are now in Vienna-still in Austria-this is a beautiful cultural city-many museums(which we are not planning to see-BORING for a lot of them)-we are a block away from the famous Opera House in a beautiful Pension-small family run hotel-lots of antiques in this place-reminds me of grandma. We have been staying in these pensions as they are nicer we think, than lg hotels-and more reasonable. We will tour around the city tomorrow and then taking a night train to Venice-sleeping on the train all night and arriving in Venice-Italy in the morning. Venice is a very busy place-were hoping to stay 2 nights but could only book for 1 night-we might move on after 1 night or try to find another place to stay if we like it.No cars in Venice-just many canels and ... read more
