Hi Mr. Mitra,
I was trying to reach the relevant forest office for booking a forest GH at Nagarhole, when I came across your blog. Now I am doubly sure I want to do this rather than stay at some expensive resort. Any suggestions on which GH to choose between Gangotri, Kaveri, Huts Nagarhole.

Hi It was nice reading your blog. I have been urging my mother and a group of her yoga mates (numbering to 10 or 12 people) to visit kokkarebelur. I hope it is right time to visit. Would you be willing to share Lokesh's number so that he can act as a guide to this group. Can a full day be spent there or is it too much time?
Thanks in Advance

Amazing read! Lovely blog! I can't wait to plan my trip to one of the forest guest houses either in Nagarhole or Bandipur. The information provided in this blog would be really helpful. Looks like it would be a scary, but beautiful experience during the nights. I'm thinking of going to Mysuru and visit KFD directly and enquire about booking.
Planning to take the same route in Dec 17 Hi, These blogs gave me good inputs. i am planning to take my first halt in Vizag, next one in Puri and than move to Chandipur and than to Kolkatta. I have the liberty of taking my BMW 530D M sport or Volvo XC 60. Any advice please. I will be grateful.
Car trip Bangalore to Kolkata & Back - A crazy self-drive REVIEWED Thanks for reading my Blog. Following are my suggestions for your plan in coming December 17 :
1. Vizag is half-way (around 1000km from Blore) to the entire journey upto Kolkata. Driving such a distance without stay may be strenuous, if not monotonous. May think for a halt before that, preferably in Vijayawada or Rajahmundry and enjoy the drive.
2. While returning from Kolkata thru same drive, I opted the route via Puri (2 days), Araku (1 day, via Vizag), Vijayawada (for night halt) to reach Bangalore. It was an excellent experience.
3. Certain portion of this long journey (I travelled during Oct 16) was travelled thru bad roads(like after crossing Vijayawada to near Rajamundry, road near Cuttack etc) . In some portion (like Bangalore to near Tirupati and other places it was two/four lane, reducing the speed. This may be considered while planning for your journey.
4. In December, 2017 early morning and late evening fog may be a normal phenomenon affecting the visibility. Also duration of daytime will be short. On the other hand day journey will be cool and enjoying unlike summer.
5. Movement of Cattle, goats, tractors, cycle coming from the opposite direction in the same lane thru which I was driving (in six lane highway), was a big pain during my journey, particularly after entering Andhra and largely in Orissa. It was a risk, hindered driving speed and needed careful drive. This problem was far less after dark.
6. Overall it was a memorable experience for me.

For booking a room in Nagarhole Forest House, I attempted the following alternatives together :
1. Sending a letter by Speed Post to the following address :
The Field Director, Project Tiger, Karnataka Forest Department, Aranya Bhawan, Asokepuram, Mysuru - 570008.
2. Sent copy of the same letter thru mail address : fdptmysore@gmail.com,
