Bev...
I am having the time of my life and you are absolutely correct in saying that I have experienced quite a diversity in my travels thus far. I'll let you know what I think of Venice and the area around it. I will be Couchsurfing in Padua (30 minutes west of Venice) with a teacher. It should be a great experience to see the way Italians live and go about day to day life. Also, it will save me money since I won't be needing a hostel! Thanks for following along!

Back in the day
Glad you are getting such a rich diversity in your travel. Napoli was settled by the Greeks and, I believe, the Mafia originated there or at least was very strong there for many years. It is a very poor place now, as you and I saw when there. I was surprised by all the graffiti everywhere in Italy, especially on the trains. It is some very talented artwork. Do you agree? Did you have some Gypsies on the trains playing music for money? I believe the only saving grace for Napoli is the Pompeii Museum which houses valuable artifacts from the ruins. Did you find GIANT lemons in Sorrento? I loved that place. It was just carefree I thought. You are having a great experience. Keep it up and kudos for making so many personal connections!! I didn't get to Venice so am excited to hear about your experience there.

You want a thrill?
Add cliff-dive to your list. I see that you have skydive and bungee jump on there. I've done all three, and there's an inverse relationship of cost to amount of thrill. By all means jump out of a plane with a parachute strapped to your back and off a ledge with tethers attached to your legs. But when you find the chance, make sure you jump off a cliff over 50 ft high with nothing attached and then you'll know what it's like to feel your heart truly skip a beat. ;)
