Day 13 It didn’t rain at night. It is one of few dry nights we had. Linda said that there were big roos roaming the whole camp ground during the night. We decided to take another off road diversion to see another campsite in the D’Entrecasteaux NP. We headed towards Warren Beach which is NW of Windy Harbour. We let our tyres down again at the first sign post that said to drop to 20psi and we saw another sign post later that said to drop to 10psi, but we kept our pressures at 25psi. This was a mistake. The road in initially was great. We were driving on 4H through narrow sandy areas. We saw a few camps set up along the way and a camper trailer but pressed on. I was leading at the ... read more

Day 12 It rained again during the night and is very cold. We decide to explore the camp grounds. We walked to the beach and it was another beautiful area. Great views of the island and granite cliff head at the point that is appropriately named Cliffy Head. There was a beautiful rainbow over the cliff heads, so we took many photos. We paid the camp fees by dropping the envelope into a box. It cost $7.70pp. We then did some off road driving to explore the area. I left the camper behind. The track is small and sandy. It is definitely 4WD. I was driving 4H and the Patrol rode on it well. We went towards Cliffy Head. This has been a highlight for me in this region. You are driving up and down which ... read more

Day 11 We packed up in the rain. Miserable cold rain. We left around 9.30am. We fuelled up 1.58/litre. Stocked up food at IGA and drove around to look at the town. Linda wanted to see the blowhole. It was a long steep walk to the blowholes but well worth it. It blew that day and the scenery around that area was fantastic. Apparently 4 fishermen have died this year from fishing off the rocks. Climbing back up to the car park was an effort though. We drove to whale watching centre but didn’t do the tour. We headed along the scenic route towards Denmark. We had patches of rain along the way. The SW is really very nice. There are taller trees and every corner is a hill and valley which provides great vista. We ... read more

Day 10 Another early start. We paid the camp fees of $7per site to the ranger. He also told us that the next camp site was worth looking at. So after prayer we drove to have a look. It was a nice site again, with pit toilets and very shaded spots. The beach looks great too even though it is not as white as Cape Le Grand. There were many abalone shells lying around. You can see about 50m out from the beach a reef system where the waves are breaking. I vouch at low tide that’s where the abalone will be. We continue along the dirt track which finally takes us to Hopetoun which is South of Raventhorpe. A work colleague of mine has a house there and asked me to stay there. We decided ... read more

Day 9 Early start, and pack up time. 3 years ago on our Kimberley trip everyone had to wait for me while I packed up. Took me over an hour to pack up last time and now it only takes me a few minutes. It did rain again last night, so we packed wet. The mouse died in the tin. So I had to throw my hitchhiker away. After prayer we headed to Cape Le Grand beach. The decision is to drive the beach. Andre was a bit apprehensive about my vehicle and camper crossing the beach. Well I did invest into some Maxtraxx and wanted to use them. The tides down here only move about 1 m so it was unlikely we swamped by the sea. It was also high tide which gave Andre some ... read more

Day 8 It rained at night, it was windy and it was freezing. It was so cold that my fingers hurt when I doing things around the camper. We had breakfast and headed straight to rocks on the right of the beach for a spot of fishing. The water looked so inviting for a snorkel except for the icy cold water. A man was snorkling looking for seahorses. Andre caught a wrasse. It was not a keeper and had to be thrown back. I didn’t get a single bite on my lures. I kept pulling up weeds. Andre & Linda kept getting bites but didn’t catch anything. They were using handlines and squid. After lunch we drove up to Rossiter Bay. It was a bird sanctuary. Once again spectacular views. There were rock islands dotted on ... read more

Day 7 A 6.30am start. Actually saw the rest stop properly in daylight and it was a great rest stop with pit toilets and bins. A pleasant change to see a clean well kept rest stop that was slightly away from the highway too. The sky looks depressing though as we headed towards Norseman. As soon I reached Norseman and within phone coverage I called Andre. He was at Ravensthorpe. That means I was only 10km further than he was to Esperance. WOW. Really felt rejuvenated now Praise the Lord. In Norseman it poured with a heavy downpour. In fact the rain will continue to follow us for days. We reached Esperance around 10am. Andre & Linda arrived first and were already at the tourist info getting the WA National Park pass and the throw net ... read more

Day 6 7am start again. As I was cleaning the camper floor before I fold the camper up I noticed some small droppings inside the camper. I still can’t find the critter and hoped that it left the camper that night. We drove pass Mucklamukla and saw the Kuhlman name on street in Ceduna. I fuelled up at Ceduna at 1.89/litre. Got a sms from Andre saying they left the Berverley Easter camp. I did my sums on the Kms left to do and realised I am going to be late for our Esperance destination. I really have to travel a lot of kms today but I still want to do a few sight seeing things on the Nullabor. The Nullabor were green. I expected white or red dust with little plants. We are outside whale ... read more

Day 5 7am start again. Low traffic again. Made a stop at Lake Hart to see the salt lakes. A beautiful rest area except for the rubbish around. The place was littered with broken beer bottles, used toilet paper and faeces. In fact almost every rest area without a toilet you will encounter used toilet paper around. We fuelled up at Port Augusta and did a quick stop at IGA to stock up on food. Fuel was cheaper than Darwin at $1.55/litre. I wanted to give a phone call to James and Karen but decided not to because it was Easter weekend. They most probably will be at Easter camp. We then headed down along the Eyre Highway towards the Nullabor. This was my first time on this road ever. A welcome change of scenery with ... read more

Day 4 7am start again. Said goodbye to the Alice folk and headed to Emily Gap along the Ross Highway. We stopped there for a little breakfast. A long drive today and extremely tiring. I was only doing between 80-95km per hour. I felt rejuvenated when I hit the SA border. Fuelled up at Marla and bumped into a family having a sea change to Kunnunarra. The wife is going to be a trauma nurse there. We stopped frequently as well. We didn’t reach Coober Pedy until around 5.30pm. We pulled into P Deane’s Comfort inn and were pleasantly surprised to see Yianggo, Alayne, Grace and Nickolaos Amanatidis. Even more surprised when I found out there were working at the inn to help Debbie and P Deane for a few days. We were fortunate to be ... read more
