Ahh so you're finally there! Good to hear you're having a good time. I'm so jealous, it dribbled rain yesterday here and the wind is so cold. Are you going to stay there the whole time? Looking forward to more blogs girl. big hugs Sarah

Hey Shalyn
Just learned of your travel blog from Richelle. I'm enjoying it so much and am now going through your old journals (and not getting any work done). It's so cool to be able to travel along with you. You have so many people here thinking of you. You are such a great kid. Hope you're having the best time.

Hi! Your doing so many cool things. It looks like your having an awesome time. I cant wait untill you can teach me some spanish. Everything there is so colourful. It looks beautiful. Vancouver is good. It misses you. But it can wait untill you are a little bit richer (with experiences and all of that good stuff). I was offered a job at Hatch, so that should be fun. Other then that its school, work, chill....and its raining alot more now. However, today is fresh and blue. Well I'll check in soon. Love you. Bye.

Great stuff, Shalyn!
Hi (from rainy Vancouver) Shalyn: Sounds like you're having a fascinating time. I'm really enjoying your blogs-- and your photos are gorgeous (of course, I knew they would be). The introduction of an Anglo-style Halloween into Guatemala is, I suspect, a realtively recent development-- some regard this as a variant of cultural imperialism; concern has been expressed in Mexico for over a decade now that the Anglo H-ween is making inroads and disrupting and/or influencing/changing the rituals associated with Dios de la Muertes. Others say it's a natural evolution. I lean towards the former view myself-- oh well. Love your reports and photos, and am eagerly looking forward to the ones to come. Safe travels... Gordon

I wouldn't worry too much about the heartless foreigner thing -- most likely, people and communities that lost anything will be so extremely grateful for the tourist money to help rebuild that you won't have to deal with anything but hospitality. Just remember to send post cards!
