So the big story last week was the waves. A day after we arrived at Pie de la Cuesta the surf started to pick up. Pie de la Cuesta is a small resort town about 10 min north of Acapulco. It is located on a long narrow strip of land between the ocean and a lagoon. At the spot where our campsite was located, there was only a hundred meters or so separating the lagoon from the ocean - and by our third day there the waves were really hammering the beach. It actually felt like bombs going off every few seconds - the whole ground shook and it seemed like the ocean was trying to break through to the lagoon. Jesse and I were woken up regularly by the big sets and I must have ... read more

So where to start? Brady and Mel arrived here in Sayulita last week - and so it begins! After 5 weeks of relaxing Jesse, Maggie and I are ready to get going on our little expedition. As before, the general idea is to slowly work our way south through Mexico and then as deep into Central America as we can go - with as many side trips and waves in between as we can handle. Having our truck and campers down here is incredible - we have already found ourselves in some pretty out-of-the-way places that busses and taxis don’t go. Where will we find ourselves once the 5-star-Mexican-gringo-trail is 1000 km behind us? There have already been a few interesting moments in the days since Brady and Mel arrived. Last week Jesse and I returned ... read more

His name is Jesus but the tacos are definately not fom heaven. I am still paying for the habanero salsa I heaped on in drunken delight... It's been a busy couple of weeks "waiting" for Brady and Mel. (Happy last day of work kids - we'll see you next week!) Sayulita has turned out to be the perfect place to spend a month. The surf has been small but clean - we are usually in the water 2 or 3 times a day to escape the heat. Jesse and I have both gotten some great rides although it can get a little dangerous. One wave I rode in to the beach and it doubled up and slammed my board into the sand. It ended up breaking the nose off my board and cost me $25 to ... read more

Hola, Por fin llegamos a Mexico! Well, jesse and I have arrived - we are patiently waiting for Chris and Melanie here in Sayulita (the beers, surf and suntans make it bearable). Its a great little surf town although a little overrun with gringos (ourselves excluded of course). Anyway - its a perfect place to pass the month - Brady & mel expect to catch up with us in early June and then the viaje begins. Our loose plan is to head slowly south into the yucatan, then every country between there and Panama... After that ... we'll see... So far the truck and camper have been problem free - I am writing this in the camper now with the fan on and windows open - its maybe 28 degrees C in here... outside its at ... read more
