'Are you happy?' This was the very first question asked to me by a stranger in the beautiful town of Portland Oregon. Confused and slightly amused with it, I answer in a soft tone, 'yes.' He then got a little too close for comfort, pointed a finger in my face and said, "Well fuck you! Cuz you're gonna get yer ass whooped harder than ever before!" Then, just kept on his way with his little dog. It took almost all of being to not laugh in this guys face, but regardless I thought it was an interesting first interaction with a local. After he stormed off, another businessy lookin' fella assured me that that guy wouldn't have laid a finger on me. I thought that was cute. Well needless to say, our luck on finding good ... read more

Hola! We made it to our first big city destination, Seattle. Going from Stacey's last update, we drove the rest of that day into the night until we made it into the city. Of course, all of the hotels in town were booked so we had to drive a little outside to find a place to lay our heads. Once you drive for 11 hours or so, things kind of start running together. I am going to make a conscious effort to not drive for that long in one straight shot ever again. It takes the life out of you. This is now our third day in Seattle and it feels to be in one spot for a bit. Staying in a different location every night starts to wear on you. Steve and cousin took the ... read more

...coming at you live from Yellowstone National Park. I haven't been able to keep up on the blogging due to lack of internet, but in exchange we had plenty of beautiful mountains. Last night we stayed at an incredible lodge just outside the park. Horses were walking freely, and the moon was as bright as could be above the mountain line. Not to mention the people that ran it were probably the most humble and accommodating type anyone could ever ask for. Today we have been driving around the park for hours and just stopping every time we saw something of interest. I have been trying to do a picture post but it just isn't happening with the internet speed. SO I will just be doing a new album on the facebook, and update it as ... read more

All is well on the second day of the trip. We've been driving so much it feels like a week had passed. The first place we stayed was in Dells Wisconsin and I must say, it was pretty crazy in a touristy-sensory overloady kinda way. It was the largest indoor waterpark/amusement park/resort. I'm getting tired just thinking about it. The water slides were pretty amazing though. Honestly, my favorite part about the Dells was where we had dinner last night. It was an old cheese factory that was turned into a restaurant and everything was very fresh and tasty as heck. Right now I am sitting in the back seat of the van, Stacey is boppin' at the wheel to some sassy R&B, Henry is cracked out on his nintendo DS, Marin is watching cartoons, and ... read more

Hello friends! The adventure begins. It is almost eleven at night, and we're all piled up in the van. Our first destination is Dells Wisconsin, and we are driving the 8 hours straight through the night. Marin is already asleep in the backseat, and Henry has a surprising amount of questions. I'm so excited to begin this journey, and explore the country with my friends. I have to do the second leg of driving tonight, maybe I should try and sleep. For some reason I don't see that happening. I'm as excited as the kids. Please stay posted, we have access to the internet 24 hours a day so I will be doing constant updating. Love, Rae... read more
