I love the way you tell stories. The visualization of that grasshopper was hilarious! I'm super excited to see you Saturday night! We're the only suite who has everyone still here (yea suite D!!!).
P.S. - guess which room Amanda and I are living in over the summer... yep, that's right, 201 Memorial! We're super excited. And we of course plan to have slumber parties in the hallway. Memories... *sigh of nostalgia*
I'm glad you had fun in Kaolack! I miss ya lots and am super excited to see you on Saturday! I hope you have fun with your last few days in Senegal!
Much love, your suitemate,
~Michelle~
Christina! I just read all of your entries (finally)! I'm kind of glad you didn't have one for each day. It was awesome to hear about what you have been doing. I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of the adventures, but not the anchovies. Mark is doing FOCUS next year, so we will be moving to Lincoln, but we will come visit BC a lot! When do you get back?
Just like a dream Christina I know what you mean about the internet being inconvenient, even though you’re probably referring to real inconvenience, whereas for me it’s just finding the time to sit down at the computer. I haven’t had the opportunity to read all of your posts or to respond. Jennifer told me about the one you sent to tell me Happy Birthday, (it made my day) and she left this one up on the screen all evening so that I could have the chance to see it, and unbelievably no one else had to use the computer. Thank you so much for sending your greetings to us from across the world! It’s is a real joy to hear what is going on in your life and on the other side of the world. The way you write makes it almost seem like we’re there, and helps us to think you’re not so far away. Your story sounded incredibly like someone’s dream from one of our “dream gatherings”, (which we haven’t had since you left). We’re all living through your stories. Thanks! Love, Victor
congrats Congratulations on getting RA, hopefully you don't lose your keys next year, we don't have convenient door slots, or butcher hooks. Best of luck mustering up the courage to get on the plane and leave Africa, you sound at home there. You'll have to make some sweet connections so you can go back, and maybe bring me for a visit. Sadly I think I would have to eat a lot of anchovies to aquire the taste for them, let alone the other conconctions you speak of. Oh, I walked across the train bridge the other day, didn't want you to show me up. Twinkle twinkle kid.
Anchovy Spaghetti Christina: I think this sounds good. In fact, I have a recipie that I used to make quit often called Hooker's Pasta, which includes anchovies, black olives and several other ingredients typicall found in the Mediteranian region The idea is that the Working Ladies often need to make a meal in a hurry, and use whatever they have on hand at the time. I think we should try your's at a pre-race meal next fall- what do you think the others will say?
we love you Gosh I miss the beach.
Do those pirogue things keep you pretty dry or does water get in?
This all sounds so amazing. Makes sales at office depot seem a little bland. Oh, by the way, my wife Jenna's pregnant.
Oh sure Good excuse for the dreds. I didn't read where you combed or washed them out. Hope your sunburn doesn't get infected from the slimy water and that it's not too painful in the heat. Any photos?
Who's snoop a loop and the man with the green hat?
Wow! That sounds great, like a dream Spring break, except for the burn, gross! I can not believe a random guy started picking you! That is so funny! We had our first track meet and some people got sun burned, but not that bad! It is so nice to be outside again! Take care of that burn! I love you!
nice Your stories are always so amusing. I'm surprised to hear that your hair started to dreadlock itself and you didn't pursue that! Isn't that a lifelong dream of yours? And no, I don't know the kind of sunburn you're referring to as neither of the two I've had have been like that. It sounds rather painful though. Nice similies in that section, by the way. And I'm not sure how I feel about strange men peeling skin off your back...
burn That's too bad about the sunburn, those are the worst. I cut my hair and my beard, it caused quite a stir, I look like i did freshman year. Wearing helmets was a nice touch at the border, you could also tell mom that you have developed a pillow suit for the crammed car rides. Let me know if you need me to fly over and take care of snoop a loop, or his friend with the green hat.
I am speechless. Nina-your blog is so fun to read and inspiring. And your photos are beautiful. I am just blown away! Keep it coming. Hope you are finding things in Kaolack agreeable. Things are finally starting to bloom around here! Love, Pete
beautiful people For some reason when I think of you lately cuz, I think of people like Peter Jennings. May you be as successful. I'm counting on it. ;o)
I hope your health is great. It's funny how some things are so different and others are so the same no matter where you go.
Stay safe and know we love you.

booyah Just got back from break, lots of snow, bet you can't imagine that right now. Just saw the picture, really surpised me, thanks, and I hope it makes it. I don't think there are many tabs for an instrument like that, so you will have to learn about it so you can teach me. Wish you could see the smile on my face.
Hello! Those are amazing pictures! You know, thay talk about a Baobab tree in Le Petit Prince! I do not remember the exact context, but I had no idea that they actually existed! Cool, well have a great spring break, whatever you do! All my love,
Hannah
wow Wow! Everything you're doing sounds so wonderful! That internship sounds like it would be perfect for you. And you have a mango tree in your backyard?!? You should make your host family lassis (I don't think that's spelled right). It's so nice to be able to picture all of the things you talk about. You look so happy and beautiful in all of those pictures. And that tree looks like it would be REALLY fun to play in! Love you lots!
You're amazing! Girl, you totally rock my world! You are living out your dream! Amazing! I never had a doubt in my mind you would. I love reading your stories and the pictures are great. It makes me feel like I'm a fly on the wall (or perhaps in honor of freshmen year, the wasp by the light at 4 am) learning you're story. I hope everything continues to go well for you and that you never stop dancing!
Love, prayers, and best wishes,
Nick
Get me on the next plane! My dear Christina, Your stories are wonderful, and now to see the beautiful people and places that are in your daily life... it takes me back to good ol' India! I now know how surreal it is to be stuck in the U.S. while knowing I have a friend halfway around the globe in a place that is so inspiring and down to earth. Once the travel bug bites...
Many blessings on your internship...it sounds like they designed it just perfectly for you! You're my language queen; language barriers are nothin' for you! Know that I think of you often! May St. Francis Xavier be with you!
Love in Christ,
Dara
Hi Christina! Sounds amazing in the life of the senegal girl missing in Achi-action! Rafting and Mardi Gras and all sounds amazing, much better than what Levin told me about the bugs (lol)! I miss you alot and pray you have an amazing lent! Run once for me!
Good stuff I am sitting here with the geek squad (Meyer,Clayton and me) and I was just telling them how I can read your journal entries and it brightens my day! Keep the entries up!
