So pleased your adventure goes on and on! Hope NZ can match the magic of all the wonderful experiences you have has already. Enjoy "The Lord of the Rings" land!

Good English Food Hi Ros and Tony. Oh thanks for the suggestions! It's just so hard to think of some, especially so far away. Shepherds Pie was a great one and has a suitably English name too! My brother also suggested Pie and Mash which was a good one. I feel more confident now. Good to hear from you. We saw Jane lots when we were in Brisbane, we went out for dinner and she invited us round for dinner too- she was a real hero! We passed on your regards and she spoke fondly of you. Fraser Island was unexpectedly great fun, despite a day of rain! Lake Wabby and MacKenzie were beautiful. Had a good day of surfing today- I think we'll be pro's soon! ;) All the best and take care yourselves, Nikki x
Good English food Tony's spontaneous response to your question is:
Irish Stew (Not really English, I realise as I write!), and
Shepherds Pie
I would add:
Toad in the Hole
Golden pudding with Syrup
Loved reading your account of the Whitsundays.
How did Fraser Island go?
And are you now in Brisbane? If so, say Hi! to Jane from me if you see her again before you leave.
Enjoy Byron Bay.
Look forward to hearing from you from Sydney.
Take care, and keep on enjoying Oz.
Love, Ros (and Tony).
ah nikki you look like you're having so much fun. thanks for keeping the blog, it's inspiration for my own escape plans. don't tell ian. miss you lots, actually, its not the same chez 'Stones sans Nikki. xx
catching up Hi Nikki
Only just realised from talking with pIp that you had a separate blog ( OK Joe - I know you told me !) Anyway I have just been catching up - it all sounds great and I am enjoying all the stories and experiences second hand
Loved your photos of rafting - count yourself lucky that you only had to wear an unflattering hat and jacket - when Bob and I rafted in NZ we had to wear all in one suits that made us look like michelin tyre men - - I looked suare -not good at all. Our fellow pasengers were german and japanese - the german lady didnt want to do it in first place and was miserable throughout - her husband - a large man - was opposite Bob at the front and whatever instruction was sent threw himself over to Bobs side and in the meantime the japanese girsl had forgotten every word of English and panicked continually!! Bob and I in contrast to those around us thought it was fantastic, enjoyed every minute, and were sad when the trip was over
Now I am accessing both blogs I look forward to the next epistles
Take care Enjoy Love Cath
Blogging brilliant I need an antidote for blog addiction - great pictures and commentary that makes you feel a traveller too - sadly the feeling doesn't last. Love to J and N - Marbles
Very excitied after reading your blog!!! well well that was brave of you both well done it looks very fun greeny said shes glad she didnt know about it before u did it !!! it looks great......
Wonderful range of experiences You were incredibly brave to embark on the elephant trail, especially as it must have been sooooo much more scary that the Hot Air Balloon with Liz 4 years ago! You survived so now the world is your oyster!
I am so glad to read you experienced the thrill of snorkelling and it was not spoilt for you byt the panic I had / have when water comes in. Hope you have more fun snorkelling in Oz
Bed bugs sound awful and the journey sounds dreadful - thank heaven for the Haven!
Enjoy!
wind-up Bird Chronicle Hi Sam! Thanks for your comment and your messages, they've been very nice and good someone hasn't forgotten us! Well will definitely make you a nice meal when we get back. So when you guys off to USA? I hope you have a brilliant time! Say hi to Megan. I loved her card btw... The book is going well, about halfway through. Joe finished Brave New World, he's proud because he finished the first book on the tour. Although the competition is a little unbalanced I feel... Hope you're well. Hows the Waterstones xmas rush?
Take care and speak soon, Nikki
barking dogs Enjoyed your full descriptions, one collects a flavour, especially the cooking. Don't get bitten - if you do - get a check with medical team!!! Fast! Enjoy.
Yum, yum, yum Well i for one can't to sample your newly learned culinary talents, and I hear you may be taking massage lessons too - you guys really will be welcome here anytime if so!
Hows Wind-up Bird Chronicle going? I read it at Center Parcs last summer (and then for about 2 weeks after that as well!) Defininitely a book for a long concerted period of reading cos its pretty emotionally distant and very dense.
Hope you don't get bitten by any scary Thai dogs who fancy an English takeaway! (oh dear, what a bad pun. Lets stop typing now!)
Sam
I can't believe you actually let Joe into your lovely pristine palace...didn't you find he spoiled the ambiance a little?
Looks brilliant and very hot!
From Chilly London to Steamy Bangkok Really interested to read your narrative about the trip to Kick boxing and the Vodka Red Bull bucket! Sounds like you are having fun and rapidly learning to deal with the rip off merchants!
Glad you have met up with some other travellers and hope things are good as you move off from Bangkok.
Keep us posted, you lucky souls!
Love,
pip
