Bokeo Reserve has proven to be a place that moves a lot... Let's start from the beginning then! As I mentioned to you before, I signed up for the Gibbon Experience, which is based in the Lao rain forest in the Bokeo Province (just across from the Thai border). The idea is that you trek through the jungle, clip yourself to a zip cord high above the trees and zip to the next base (just like in The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, promise!). Then, you trek some more and zip again and you keep on doing so until you reach your [View Full Entry]

T&T in action
about to fly
and flying

All that pretty much sums up Pai. It's a very relaxed little place in the North West of Thailand with barely 4 roads, so you can really chill here. There are plenty of bars and restaurants which kinda makes it touristy but in fact, it's not - if that makes any sense. Our place is just by the river, so mornings & evenings are absolutely gorgeous, apart from a little detail: there are more bugs of different kind. So, on my first night, I seemed to be the target for all the mozzies from the neighbourhood, landed something big and beetle [View Full Entry]

I really should have sent this a few days ago but there is always something different to do... Anyways, let's get on with this traveling blurb. Chiang Mai was a brief episode but definitely worth seeing. I hooked up with two Ozzie guys on the overnight train and so they followed me to the hostel where I had booked a room. One reason why they wanted to hang out together was because it turned out that I knew how to haggle...and they didn't. Just to give you a comparison: my trip from Khao San Rd in Bangkok to the train station [View Full Entry]

"F**k it's hot!!!" These were my 1st words after getting out of the airport. I did know it would be hot but i suppose I didn't really appreciate Thai temperatures... It's stinking hot, that's what it is!!! Anyway, the flight was fantastic (had all three seats all to myself -stretch!), so didn't feel tired at all. I headed straight to my hostel on Khao San Rd and the 1st thing I did (after a blissful cold shower of course) was... going to a hairdresser's. Yes, I can almost hear you frown, thinking "what the hec?" Well, I've decided the blondie had [View Full Entry]

After all the trials and tribulations of getting the long-awaited degree from Poland and a new job - actually, it was the other way round (some of you know the story all too well) - I'm finally ready to enjoy my life for a few months :o) I've never felt like I deserved anything more than I deserve this and I am so looking forward to every day of the next 12 weeks that are to follow. Let's see if it's true what people have been saying about SE Asia and New Zealand! Needless to say, I will try to keep [View Full Entry]
