Great pictures! How nice that FINCA gave you a going away party. You look tan. We're in the 40s here. The snow is all gone and the birds are singing. Miss you! Love, Aunt Carol
Love ya Megan!
Hi Megan,
I am glad to get your address. I talked to your Dad this morning. Told him I wanted to
send you a birthday card. I will have some special things waiting for you when you get back home.
Love your blog. Looks like you get along very well there in Peru.
Grandpa and I both send our love! Grandma
Mardi Gras en Ayacucho Wow! You really got into the spirit of carnival! It's wonderful that you participated with FINCA. You really are ayacuchana! Congratulations! With love and prayers, Aunt Jean
Happy St Valentines! Megan loving the updates. I'm already looking forward however to seeing you once again in person. Glad you liked the flowers, they were my Valentines gift to you.
Whoah Nellie! Cool flower! I looked it up and it's the largest bromeliad. Bromeliads are also those bright flowers that grow on branches without needing soil in the jungles. Alex is out sledding tonight. He jumped through the snow this morning in his moccasins that he wears without socks. It was 20 degrees this morning and he only had on a hoodie! Mom-mom went skiing this morning in our new snow. Keep up the good work. Love, Aunt Carol
Quite an education!
Hi Megan!
Glad that you are taking advantage of your time in S America.
After all that adventure will you be able to sit still again when you get back to Wis?
Yes, we have plenty of snow, and it is getting colder again. Luckily I can mostly stay inside and sew, as I don't like cold weather either!
Miss you! Look forward to your being safely home in WI again!
Love, Grandma and Grandpa
He's do cute! Hey that baby alpaca is so cute. Doesn't he need his mother for some milk? I'm glad you like it there and find your work rewarding. Keep up the good work and keep safe. We're freezing up here! Love you, Aunt Carol
FROGS? Chica, you are crazy to drink frog juice! Sandboarding looked fun. I'm glad you're having a great time in your new place. Cuidado. Love, Aunt Carol
O To Be Young Again!
Hi Megan,
We can see that you are having a great time! And we're very happy for you!
Glad that you have some nice friends there to enjoy the sand (and frogs, yuk!) with you!
All is well here , we've had a few nice days, but storms are coming in, in a few days! My friend Ann abd I have been out walking again, would love to have it stay warm and sunny for awhile yet!
We met your Mom and Dad on Sat and had lunch together, and saw the slides from there in Peru!
Love ya lots, Megan! Grandma and Grandpa
What a great summer break! Megan:
Thanks for the colorful descriptions of life as you know it during the summer break of your amazing South American study year. We always enjoy reading of your latest and greatest adventures, and wonder how you will top the previous with your latest tests of strength and mettle. Hmmm...you've succeeded so far! 'Glad the FINCA clients will have a good listener like you to hear and share their true stories of struggle and triumph. How many miles do you think you have traveled since you left WI in August? You are quite the explorer! God bless all that's ahead. We love you, A. Jean and U. John
P.S. Our big trip south is to A. Jean's cousin's US Air Force retirement in early March in Florida. 'Might be 60 degrees F there!
Megan - How are you ever going to be satisfied with a quiet day in Bear Valley?
Miss ya!
Hi Megan!
Was so special that your Mom and Dad and Andrew were able to come and spend Christmas with you.
We had a very nice Christmas at David and Kathleen's.
Met Maria's new boyfriend, Dave.
Your Dad just sent pictures from their trip to see you.
very nice. So nice that you could give "your family" a new roof.
Sorry I couldn't send you any jelly, but it will be here for you when you return.
Love, Grandma and Grandpa
2010 or bust Megan, wow you keep amazing us! Sure missed you here at Christmas. Fam is so proud of you and still seriously praying for your safety.

Big, brave girl! Good job in the jungle, Megan. I remember how spiders, even granddaddy long legs used to freak you out. You have grown up! Thanks for the pictures.
Mom-mom
Be Very Careful, Megan
Hi Megan,
We will be praying for your safety, you do your part by taking good care of yourself. A call from your Dad tonight tells us he and Andrew and Pop Pop are coming up on the 80 on Sat to cut some wood. Really nice weather today, and coming up for at least a week. 60+ degrees which is warm for mid November, here in Wisc.
Love, ya Lots! Megan! Grandma and Grandpa
It's Scary Thank you for the update! Life's a jungle, enjoy and watch out for the snakes. Love - U. John. P.S. Larry and RoseAnne, Leah, and Erin leave tomorrow for Mexico. Say hi being they are in the neighborhood.
Impressive Well done, Megan. Sounds like it was a glorius adventure! Very glad to know you both took it on and survived. I'm recovering well from the knee surgery, so I should be ready for like adventures upon your return.
Wonderful Trek Hi Megan,
You really had your ups and downs. Thanks for the good account and all of the pictures. How are the blisters and muscles? That's lots of climbing but you look good in your picture at the end. Lucky old flat Stanley got all the way down and back up. Keep on trekking.
Love,
Mom-mom
Proud of you, Megan!
Hi Megan, Of course we are always proud of you!But glad to see you making the most of your year in Peru!
We spent today in La Crosse, visiting Allergy Associates, then spending time at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadulupe near La Crosse on our way home. It is really beautiful and inspiring. Friends from Richland Center were also there, to our surprise.
Hope you will make the pilgrimage there some day!
Love ya honey! Grandma
Whoa SO intense! Congrats for making it the whole way. I totally know what you mean about the different concept of time. It's the same way here. Sometimes Mass on Sunday begins at 7:30, sometimes 8:30, you never know. Jack and I were told that it was at 8 so we arrived early, arrived late, and finally decided we should forget about our watches and just follow the bells. So far that's been working out pretty well.
Miss you!
Andrea
Does guinea pig really taste like chicken? Hey Megan,
Glad to see you are loving life in Peru. Lots of fun so far and you've only been there just over a month! Drew is curious as to whether or not you've committed the unforgivable sin yet? You know what he's talking about.
We're looking forward to reading about more of your adventures.
Thanks for sharing your trip. Megan, a trip of a lifetime. Sounds like it is strictly for the young, or young at heart. You are courageous!Enjoyed the pictures. Safe journey home. Love, A. Evelyn
Sitting on Top of the (New) World... Your recent adventure sounds really great! We love the pictures and the stories. Love you and miss you! A. Jean (and U. John)
