I write from my very comfortably bed here in Garmish-Partenkirchen, I have been here almost a week now. From my window I can look out and see the Bavarian Alps. I could really get used to this view. The history of the town that I am living/working in is actually very interesting. The 1936 Olympics were held here thanks(?) to Hitler. Before this time the towns of Garmish and Patenkirchen were just neighbors and bitter rivals. Hitler told them that if they were not going to be able and work together to create one town then everyone would be sent to concentration camps... how is that for motivation?
