After a two and a half hour train ride that I may have been awake for a total of 15 minutes, Steve found me at the station. The walk from the station to his room took maybe 25 minutes. It was a nice day so a walk was welcome after all those hours of sitting. After Steve went to class I roamed around his neighborhood for a little while. I stopped in a small grocery store and bought some meat, bread, and cheese and went back to Steve's place and made a sandwich. As I arrived ahead of schedule in Amsterdam-Schipol Airport I felt confident that I will be able to catch the train to Groningen. However, Customs set me back around 25 minutes and waiting my baggage took an additional 45. On top of that, the credit card machines weren't working and I only had 30 euros for a 30.20 euro train fair. A nice Dutch fellow kindly let me slide on the 20 cents and I made that train not 2 minutes before it left the station. ... read more
