dude.
your writting is nice, but your images are realy bad.
You make the city look like a ghost town (did you wake up at 6am or what?)
and i can't think of a picture that conveys less of the red light ditrict's ambiance than yours.
everything else is backlit and boring.
You should realy bring someone with you next time you travel, and make sure that person can take photos...
cheers.
A suggestion Hi Matt,
I like your photos of Noumea where I am leaving. I would like to suggest you to correct the name of the bay from Baie des Citrones to Anse Vata. To save AUD50 you should walk to the Information desk at the airport where its attendant speaks English, and will be very keen to help you organising transfer to the city sometime even free of charge, as there are always some polite local people around who may give you free ride. Those 5min for bus drivers mean a lot as lunch break is longer her in tropical NC than in Australia and people usually have lunch at home.
By the way, I paid more for my 35min trip from Melbourne airport than you paid here.
Good lack next time.
Cheers,
R
about photos 1 & 4 Hi, nice to hear that you had a pleasant visit in Finland.
I just want to point out that the first picture is not the Helsinki railway station. The building is actually the main building of the national theatre of Finland (they're quite close to each other).
This is a picture of the railway station

And on picture 4 there's a "no parking zone" except for diplomats
... three - too few! I'm glad you had fun while in Dominica!! There are few inconsistencies with the details like names in your blog.. but thats easy to forgive!! Hope you tell everyone about our lovely island.. and i hope you continue to enjoy other places about as 1/2 as you enjoyed it here (.. lol.. forgive my bias!!) :))
Dominica Dominicans are always happy when visitors have a good time however we don't see the point in going out of our way to seem friendly. Yes according to western standards it is a "poor" country, but you shouldn't have been surprise that there weren't any beggars or mass homelessness because we grow our own foods and take care of each other.
You were wrong to assume that US$25 is considered a lot of money in D/ca as your accomodation proved; at an exchange of about 2.6-2.75 to the US dollar that is not a lot of money.
I've lived, work and traveled outside of D/ca for over ten years, and I know never make assumptions about a country based on statistics. I recently moved Asia and wouldn't have done so if I had made assumptions.
Good luck with your travels.

Alcholics Annoymous. Hi My name is Matt I don't think there is a journal entry where you don't mention "beer". I think a long stint in rehab might be called for on return before you end up like Derryn Hinch with Sirocis (sp???) of the liver

Leigh-Anne's right - what are you going to do without a blog when you get home.. I'm addicted to these things! Thankgoodness for small mercies Very pleased to hear you kept your clothes on. I don't think KT and I could have coped with seeing the pictures. We would've been scarred! (Sorry Marg)! Sint Maarten's just sounds like Sydney to me...ripped off by taxi drivers...Not long til you're back in Kangaroo land....What will I do when you stop writing your blog?
More sad stories You big name-dropper you!! HA HA. In sad news. I need glasses....which I get in 10-15 days. Have some sort of progressive eye disease where my cornea's are thinning! fantastic....anyhow it's currently correctable with either glasses or contacts. Not big on sticking my fingers near my eyes...so opted for glasses first. NY sounds fab. Where's all your pics of 9/11?
