Thanks for blogging It is fun to follow your progress and hear more of the details of your trip. I'll make sure to cross Shawnee State Forest off of my bucket list!
mehendi in bangalore Hi. Nice to read your blog about your mehendi/heena experience. I am a mehendi/heena artist myself and just wanted to share my website address so everybody can have a look at my wedding collections that i have created. the website address is www.mastmehendi.com . Any body interested in getting mehendi/heena done in bangalore can contact me. keep writing about your experiences. thanks.
So happy.... ...to read about some of your experiences. I'm so glad I was tipped off (by Davinia) about your blog. I have only read this entry so far, but I plan to read the rest too. I know that SB is full of the highest peaks and the lowest valleys - and I appreciate you for hanging in there and stepping up to the plate over and over again. From me, everyone at ASTEP, TGF, and from the students...Thank You! We would be nowhere without inspiring artists like you, willing to give selflessly, day in and day out. Thank you - and thank you for writing. So wonderful to hear updates and goings-on.
Many hugs from Times Square!
You certainly had no difficulty communicating clearly here - great blog! Always interesting to read about the nuances of life else-where - gestures, manners of speech, customs - that you can only get exposure to over the long-run. Thanks for sharing.
Diwali at Shanti Bhavan Your avid participation and apt descriptions of this traditional Indian festival gave me a better understanding of what it means--'at ground level,' so to speak. Keep the lively blogs coming!!
Great adventuring! So glad to hear that you are getting out and seeing the world! Check out the Hindu Temple in Maple Grove. Your photo of the Virupaksha temple reminded me of the architecture of this temple in Minnesota: http://archrecord.construction.com/projects/bts/archives/worship/10_hindu_temple/default.asp
just touchin' base Federated Church in Morris is well-blessed to have a connection with Lynn! I hope to get to reading more thoroughly soon. In the meantime, Lynn, as your time unfolds, let us know if there is some support project we can undertake for the students, school, your curriculum, or anything else with ASTEP or your experience!
Support Ideas Anyone who is interested is invited to check out various donation/sponsorship opportunities at www.shantibhavanonline.org. You can send supplies to SB, or sponsor a child, or even sponsor a treat (like ice cream or pizza) for the children. If you are interested in doing the latter, contact me and I'll connect you to the right people. :-D
Looks Gorgeous! Except for the spider. The spider looks very frightening! Also, congrats on no jet lag. All I remember of our first day in London was wanting to die :)
The photogenic spider I've only seen the one so far. In fact, I've seen far more translucent geckos that run from light. And those are certainly harmless. But I'm certainly keeping my eyes open!
I just re-read the last paragraph and I can definitely see what you mean. The funny thing is, I didn't even think of it as theological. But, given the continuous connection between music, religion, and theatre, I'm not at all surprised!
I've always loved learning and travelling (and travelling to learn). In fall 2012, I took a leap of faith and traveled to India to be a volunteer teaching artist with Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP). The next adventure? Grad School in Boston, and this time I have Ben, my partner in crime, with me. Here's the story of our journey as two Minnesotans in Boston.... full info

Visiting the historical sites
We'll have to come visit sometime and give you an excuse to do the touristy things!
