I am adding this to my list I think I will try to squeeze this place into my own itinerary when (if) we go to Iceland. I have added it to my ever growing list of places I want to visit. /Ake
Lava tunnels I think there are a couple of lava tunnels to choose from, but I do like how it is by appointment so you are not overwhelmed with people and can enjoy it
Our Iceland plans didn't realise this year either We have plans ourseles to visit Iceland. But they have derailed two years in a row now. I now fearif that we might ever going to do that trip. /Ake
Do it! You definitely need to go! It is one of the my favorite places and just so unique. It can be expensive and some of the toursity places can be crowded, but there are so many little places to see off the main road that you can have almost to yourselves! And it is just as beautiful.
That looks awesome Lovely picture of a town with a spectacular setting. There are many spectacular places in Norway. I have seen a few over the years and I hope to see many more. Thanks for letting me see your pictures and read your blog. /Ake
This is useful information for me We are planning to visit this par tof Norway in August. You are giving me lots of useful information here. I will try to squeeze some of these places in on our trip. Btw, I have a bit of a soft spot for stave churches. /Ake
Beautiful area This whole area is amazing, you won't be disappointed whatever route you choose. My options were a bit limited due to the winter season - most things / roads do not open until mid-May. Feel free to message me if you have any requests for suggestions. :) The stave churches were all incredible in the most impressive locations
Fairy tale forest That's a real fairy tale forest. It looks like it could be filled with trolls and elves and I don't know what. I am actually going to visit Bergen in August. We have a short Norway trip planned then. /Ake
Fairytales Yes, there were times I could actually understand how so many fairytales were born in places like this: trolls, elves, gnomes. The moss covered rocks and trees, or mist rising from the lakes in the morning. It was both eerie and peaceful.
Hiking in Norway... I love the theme of your trip...to visit stave churches. You mentioned wanting to hike in Norway, perhaps further north. I highly recommend walking the St. Olavsleden pilgrim trail from Sweden to the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, which I did in 2017. You can start at the Swedish border to make the hike easier to do in a week.
I was an engineer on a long term assignment, first in Dubai and then in Qatar. During this time, I took advantage of my nice paycheck and proximity to other places to start seeing the world. After three years, I decided to take a much earned break and traveled for a year. After working about two years in New York State, I am on my way back to Dubai.... full info
