Since I can't have my own show on The Travel Channel, I'm going to pretend online. It's good practice because Samantha Brown will need a replacement someday, right?

September 25, 2011: Okay, I'm not very good at travel blogs. I wonder how people do it. At first, it's nice and then, it kinda becomes a hassle. It's unfortunate that I've probably forgotten so many things since I took these photos, but I guess you could say that this means the really good stuff stuck. Anyway, these were taken during my last full day in Salamanca; only days after I'd returned from Vila-real. We had class as normal, went to break at a local bar, and finished up the school day. Later that afternoon, we decided to go to the river and rent those little paddle boats. It was fun for the first 5 minutes then, it was just torture! Oof! It was a nice day, though. I just hate that the river was so ... read more

As I mentioned in my previous post, I started to feel a little.... suffocated in Salamanca. (Okay, that's harsh, but I can't think of a nicer word that describes it right.) It's a great city; no hate on my side! I just needed a break, damn you. A break from classes and the monotony of life there. And before you think that I'm saying Sevilla is better than Salamanca, we did do the Granada excursion so, I did have a Sevilla break, as well. Okay, back on topic: I was ready to get away and considered the different excursions that the school offered. There was one to Pamplona for San Fermin (the running of the bulls), but after talking to Nuria, one of my professors, I decided to save my money for something that I would ... read more

I left Sevilla a bit conflicted. On one hand, I loved the city and met wonderful people there, who still had a week to study. On the other hand, I was ready to get away from that suffocating heat! As I was walking home from class on my last day there, I saw that the temperature was 45 C/113 F. Murder! Three weeks in Andalucia had given me a tan and bleached my hair some. So as a part of me cried at the thought of leaving, I also rejoiced at the promise of nicer weather up north. Again, I had to take the train to Madrid (Chamartin), go to a different train station (Atocha), and hop a different train to Salamanca. It was a 5-6 hour trip in total, I think. Once I arrived to ... read more

July 17, 2011: I'm not very good at keeping this thing updated, it would seem. Also, I keep forgetting to take photos. I think that once you get into a routine somewhere, you don't think about how it's not going to last forever and that you (or some of your friends) will be leaving soon. (This language study thing is, actually, pretty depressing.) Anyway, I've clumped the last two weeks of my trip into this post. I'm really upset with myself for not taking more photos. I guess it's because Venessa & I were just hanging out most of the time; not touring anything. Boo, I forgot that "just hanging out" is special when you have only 3 weeks with someone. :/ The first few photos are of my hunt for the Sevilla football stadium. Javi ... read more

June 29, 2011: I'm not doing so good at keeping up with this thing. :/ Anyway, this entry is about a trip the school organized to Granada my first weekend in Sevilla. Granada is one of those cities that people talk about as a "must-see" and, actually, the woman I lived with mentioned how beautiful it was. Thus.... Saturday, June 11, 2011 The day before, Venessa and I had talked about meeting up a little early and getting churros for breakfast. But in the end (because it would be a longer trek for her), we decided that I'd pick up the churros and meet her at the group meeting point. As usual, I was running later than I'd hoped, but would have made it to the bus on time if I skipped the churros. Not sure ... read more

I really should have written these up over the weekend, but getting online is such a hassle (I don't have wifi at the apartment & don't want to carry my laptop to some cafe). Besides, the first week was full of activities and kinda flew by. I don't really know how to summarize it, but here we go: Monday, June 6th: After a quick breakfast, I rushed to the school, where everyone took a written & oral test to decide what level we needed to be on. It wasn't a horrible test, but they make me so nervous! Speaking, especially, is such a nightmare. You want to speak quickly because no one wants to sound like the idiot that pauses after every three words and says, "Uh... uh..." In the end, you make all these little ... read more

Saturday, June 5th: You know, I have to admit that I found that I was quite sad to leave Madrid. Well, sad & relieved. It was a strange sensation. On one hand, I feel like I was really getting to know the city and it wasn't as scary as I first had thought it would be. On the other hand, I had spent four days running myself down like crazy to try to do as much as I could so, I was exhausted. I had Madrid-ed myself out! I think that it'll be nice to return there at the end of my trip, though. Not exactly a coming home (Hello, Valencia!), but you know... More like: Viva la reina del metro del Madrid! As for the trip to Sevilla, there isn't much to say. I sat ... read more

Wednesday, June 15, 2011 - This will be short because it's been about a week and a half since I left Madrid and I don't remember all little anecdotes: If you remember, I was unable to visit El Museo de Traje on Thursday, June 3rd. Friday, I had to catch the 2 pm train to Sevilla so, I didn't have a lot of time to do much in Madrid. After talking with an American family, who had gone to see the museum, I decided that this was the last thing I'd do in Madrid. (I wanted it to be something that would be worth it!) I woke up a little later than I had intended, but had packed everything the night before so, it was okay. I just got up, got ready, and rushed over to ... read more

The internet went out, last night, so I spent part of this morning trying to see if it would work &, also, typing up yesterday's ongoings. I kinda wish I hadn't, though. In the end, I feel like I wasted a lot of time and then, the rest of the day just felt off. :/ Once I left the hostel, I hopped a train and rushed over to the bullfighting ring. It was a really gorgeous building and fascinating tour, though I'm no bullfighting fan. I don't know, there's such artistry in the matador's movements, but watching animals get tortured to death just don't do it for me. :/ Honestly, I don't really know what more to say about it... I'm exhausted, right now, and all I remember was that it was a good tour. Our ... read more

The internet hasn't been working since last night so, I'm only just now able to post this. Hope no one worried. I'm still alive and well. Okay, here you go: When I woke up this morning, I went to my luggage to grab some clothes and came to the horrible realization that there was only ONE PAIR OF PANTS in the bag. !!! How did that happen? I thought I had packed so carefully! On top of this, it was a pair that I figured would be like my end-of-vacation goal pants. Well, damn. I had to throw them on and rush it to Atoche to get into my security locker for jeans. I was horrified. And I still don't know what happened! Did I just pack badly at home or when I was rearranging things ... read more
