Grant's Group Karen, You are so clever to add yourself to the group photo. I've enjoyed reliving the trip via your Blog. It was fun to get home and find several installments waiting for me. Your pictures are fabulous. Leslee and I made it back to Colorado with only one minor incident--temporarily loosing a carry-on bag in Beijing airport. But it magically appeared at the last minute. Could Grant have engineered that? No doubt!
the great wall Hey--thanks for all the great photos and commentary--you and Chip went to China in 2004?--how do I not know that, but it was a tough year. Great photo of you two! See you soon
this is FABULOUS Fisrt of all, you got an iPhone? (You'd think they'd take better pictures!!) ha ha, I am just kidding!!!! The pics are great - I love all of the photos and can really get the sense of your experience from them. I would not have wanted to be on the receiving end of that picture-disliking manager. I'm sure you handled him with your brand of "steely grace", Karen!! :)
Look at all the types of food they have. Gee whiz - I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it all, and I'm just reading your blog. WOWEE is that food expensive!! Gee that last dinner was a downright steal after the Bird's Nest Soup.
PANDAS I have GOTS to gets me one of those Panda bears. Is there ANYTHING more cute but otherworldly on the face of the earth?? ...well, maybe...but I still gots to get me one of those cute panda bears..
:)
LOVELY trip blog, Karen!!!!
Eggs! I've had one of those infamous eggs, actually. The perks of having Chinese roommates freshman year. It sounds like you're having a fabulous time!
I'm really enjoying traveling with you. The pictures are wonderful. I'll take your word for it on the food. Just the descriptions made my stomach turn. Probably best if I didn't know what it was. What a great gift of a trip to give yourself. Your artistic mind must be on overload. dana
Coffins?!! The kids and I hope you have pictures of the 2,000 year old coffins hanging above the gorge...kinda cool and creepy...perfect subject for Halloween!!!!
Wow! Always wanted to see the terra cotta army...each one unique...thanks for sending photos of what they look like in relation to the building that protects the dig site where they were unearthed. Truly one of the world's greatest sights to see!!!!
Hmmm.... Who eats 100 year old eggs? Or maybe what do you do with 100 year old eggs? Or how do you store eggs until they're 100 years old? My mind can't get past the fact that someone has saved eggs for 100 years!!!!!! WHY????????????...
great trip descriptions- (almost feel like I'm with you) and wonderful photos...my favorite are of the food (of course!) and of the people. Wish I could be on this trip with you!
Signed the lease. When do you come back so you can look over the new space with me?
I have to say, you look like an easy mark because you are so nice, friendly and open to new people, but you are not an easy mark so they get sort of pissed off (because they just really want your money.) But you are right, that is capitalism.
These meals sound better on this part of the trip. Why Martin Yan?
Really fun to read and funny too This is great Karen. I especially love all of the american food you seem to be eating. What are they thinking? Don't you just crave some good old chinese food???? I wish I was there with you. How fun and funny.
