Nice entertainment on a rainy day Just happened upon your blog looking up something on Google - and even though I have alot to do today I just read the whole thing - interesting and the pictures were amazing - I bet that was a fun trek. Kinda like I was there walking with you. Thanks for sharing!
Adventure Feedback Kevon, WOW!!! You are a gifted photo journalist...felt as if I was on the trip with you...creative eye and good detail in the commentary. Enjoyed very much. John's sister in Texas
sunny isles Pier this summer the memory of shooting the Sunny Isles Pier, burst open when I saw your pictures. Visiting Miami w/fam 1950s/60's, the beach was much different when we lived there
Wow- thank you for sharing your great adventure. I live in San francisco, and was born in the redwoods, but I have never seen No. California shown so beautifully as you have done. Please come back and you'd be welcomed to stay with us.
Fantastic pic , lads and how many pubs do u reckon you went into?? I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your very good pics of Ireland! Actually made me feel a little homesick, was born and grew up in the Emerald Isle and now settled in Australia( another amazingly beautiful country! ) these past 15 years. I go back every 3 years or so,. next trip due 2010 with my eldest daughter, Brianna who will be 12. Looks like you guys had a really good time..i have to say " there is nothing like an Irish pub in Ireland for atmotphere- not to mention the Guiness, it is the one thing i missed for a long time when i emigrated!!! John's Dad Kevin, enjoyed this fwd. from John - what a fantastic idea, concept and write-up, so filled with back-ground of the politics of business and the architecture of the Miami/Dade County country. It was about as 'first-hand' as it could get, and your poise and presence in the midst of what must have been a difficult trip must have been a significant challenge. You have my sincere appreciation for sharing with us and others who might be fortunate enough to see/read these pictues and write-ups. My personal best to you and Debbie, with my love.
Thank you! This is truly amazing! Reminds me of the barefoot mailmen stories of yesteryear. Who knew this could be done? A total inspiration. Thank you!
Keep on Trucking Your pictures were phenomenal. Your journey was very interesting and brave. I feel your passion and the love for the earth. As the Grateful Dead would say keep on trucking.

Wonderful! Thank you for sharing...most people believe they must backpack through Europe or beyond for new discoveries...but this post makes us believe that the true journey of discovery is not looking at a new direction but rather looking within ourselves for a new direction...
Wow! These are great! You look like locals in all those pubs! What an incredible trip for a lifetime of memories.... from friends of a lifetime.
I love it and wish I had been with you to share a Guinness!
ah good! Your shots brought me back to roads I've travelled three times previously, although years ago now. I could feel the wetness in the air, the thunderous seas, the fiddles in Doolin, the thickness of the Guinness, ah and the friendliness of the Irish. A noble stock , indeed, allowing for the odd slippery one or two.
Great I loved viewing Part 1. The pictures and editorial are great -- I almost felt like I was with you there. I am just angry that I have to postpone looking at Part 2 and 3 until I have more time. Thanks for sharing these great pictures and memories.

devil's gulch Wow! Had no idea there were vines in that area. Must be in the upper reaches of Devil's Gulch. Bet you make some killer Pinot Noirs. Will definitely try to drop by next time we're in Marin.
Devils Gulch wine with Devils Gulch hike? Why not drink the wine grown at your hiking site for the Marin segment as well? And enjoy rabbit/pork/lamb for lunch produced from the same. Dutton-Goldfield and Sean Thackrey both produce vineyard designated Devils Gulch Ranch (YES, the same Devils Gulch as your hike, adjacient to, and just North of Samuel P. Taylor Park) Marin County Pinot Noirs. And, Devils Gulch Ranch raises artisan rabbit/pork/lamb which pair nicely with the wines.
