So after possibly THE most stressful experience of my life trying to get a Chinese work visa sorted and hundreds of pounds worth of phone calls to find a F11 form, which apparently I am now told doesn't even exist (???!!) I am ready to go! Ningbo... here I come!

I am off to China for a year working and hopefully to have another amazing year abroad! So I am setting off on Monday 23rd of August, eek only 3 days away! It is likely that I will be cut off from the rest of the world for some time (I like to make it sound more dramatic than it is!) as facebook, twitter, youtube (how will I live?), yahoo, google and hotmail... and many other 'decent' websites (really what I mean to say, the only websites I bother logging onto the internet for)... are banned! So I though I'd start a travel blog to keep you all filled in on my adventures and to let you know that I am alive! Until the Chinese government decide to ban this too, you know what a lucky lady I am!

Unlike Mexico, this time I shall be braving it alone without Mildred 😞 *sob* so there could be some potential disasters and hilarious stories install (I know you love my genius story telling)... who knows what is waiting for me in China (some friends I hope) ... wish me luck!

I'll be in touch asap, once I am sorted and settled into my lonely flat 😞. Keep in touch, Love you all!

First stop HONG KONG ..... via Bombay... Oh god this is gonna be soooooo looong, kill me now!

I have finally arrived in Ningbo (after a mission of a journey)! It is so strange to finally be here! I am all settled in my new apartment, which is very cosy. I have spent the day cleaning and killing some seriously hideous looking insects and setting up possibly THE most retarded internet connection ever! It took me about 4 hours to follow some useless chinese instructions (looking every other character up in the dictionary) and once I had finally connected I discovered that it takes almost 5 mins to load 1 page. God knows what skype will be like! Anyways, at least I have some sort of access to internet! Apartment is nice and is loacted within the main campus grounds of the uni. The university is massive though! It is like a self-contained city ... read more

Several... delicious food induced comas, traditional family meals, glasses of wine, spa treatments, shopping trips, bargaining attempts and tennis matches.... later, I have finallly settled back into HK life. It's been a busy week, especially trying to cram in 3 weeks worth of visits into just a week. All is well here and am having a nice time. It is insanely hot and have been avoiding all places without air-conditioning. Apparently Shanghai is a good 10 degrees hotter - wonderful! How can anyone survive in 43 degrees heat???!!! Leaving here on Tuesday evening... eek. Very nervous! Start work on Thursday, fingers crossed there are some nice foreigners that I can befriend, preferably someone who is a computer whizz and can get me on facebook! Be in touch soon xxxxxxx ... read more
