Depressingly dark I know what you mean... it does look kind of dingy - but it wasn't quite as bad as it looks in the photos. High contrast meant that either the town or the sky went a bit dark/bright... I tried to get a compromise between the two... but those areas are like that - everything very close together, lots of stone and tiled rooves...
But the Minster more than makes up for the ungraceful parts of town!
Loving the Enchantment of Old England So much to read! I'm afraid I'm a little behind in your blog, but will get through it over a few days! Sounds like you're having a magnificent time, though. I remember loving Stonehenge myself, but I remember thinking that the car park was too close too. They should make you pilgrimage to it, keep the magic alive!
Pub Grub is Sublime. I wonder if there is a group of that name on facebook? There should be!
I did get a pic of Alice's grave, but it's not hugely interesing - just a bunch of overgrown flowering plants and a wee plaque. Not the prettiest grave ever - just notable.
OMG you're still alive ;o) Oh Ju I am so excited... am sitting in Wellington at the end of the work day and was looking at your old blog (which I haven't looked at in months) to see if there was an update (alas there was none) and I found the link to this blog. I am so happy to find it and see your still overseas and loving it! Would love to catch up with you so please email me!! Will have a good read through them later on. Sarah xx :o)
heehee Yeah, I am a regular paparaz - it's great! Imagine how much money I could make! Only prob is, I keep thinking of the celebs as people, and when I meet them I tend to ask if it's okay to take a pic, and then I don't if they would rather not... so no photo of Maggie Smith from last weekend :(
Tarnation. Maybe I should ditch the whole ethics thing ;)
yay! ooh you did like you promised and put something on the blog. Great photo's, you're a regular paparazzi (without the scary stalking people side)
much love

Happy (belated) New Years! Sounds like you're having a great time. Ali and I were lucky enough to be out on a boat in Sydney Harbour. Amazing fireworks from the harbour bridge and all around us! Will we see you at Toby's wedding?
Oooh... does that mean that you are coming to your Overseas Adventure soon?
Coromandel would have been great... though I've heard the water's still quite cold at the moment. Happy 2007 with extra added hugs x j
Happy New Years Happy New Year! Looks like your's was fantastic. Brought the new year in overlooking a dark ocean on the shores of the coromandel. A lot more subdued than you, but lovely nonetheless. Happy 2007. Hopefully see you someday soon... :)
Aww :) Happy Noo Year to you too: and further adventures are definitely a must! So... how about where it all began - let's get a St Paddy's Day reunion fixed up!
(Am keeping Times Square filed in the back of my mind... one day, one day...)
Happy noo year! Can only imagine what it was like in times square, maybe we should plan to be there next time round! What an amazing year, thanks for sharing so many adventures with me! :D
*grins from ear to ear* Thank you! What a nice comment, and glad you like the pics :) I have a lot of fun taking them, but you can see now why I have started looking at SLRs - sometimes it is so frustrating not having more options... or lenses... but I have to balance out the cost against the bells and whistles. No doubt you will hear more of my dilemmas in due course! x j
Thankyou I'm so lucky to have such amazing friends. I miss everyone so much - but so glad we had such a fun night before I had to go. Thanks Ju for making such a lovely page!
Of course you miss me :) but there was indeeed a hiatus - internet signal at home has disappeared *grumble, grumble* Don't worry - I am back in business, broadcasting to you from the pub up the road...
Geraniums are like triffids? cos they're triffic?
Or cos they are biding their time until the right season for world domination? (Not that triffids bided... but maybe geraniums are more subtle.)
Kiwis aren't so flightless after all...
In March 2006 my best friend and I took off on a road trip across the United States. We drove in a large zig zag across the continent, had an amazing time and kept everyone in touch by writing about our adventures on our travelblog - Jenny and Ju.
At the end of our trip we arrived in the UK, based ourselves in London, and split up to seek our fortunes. Since our first blog had been such a success, I started this one to record my new adventures, and promptly got sidetracked with life ... full info

where are you? : : tales from abroad
Yes! Exactly. And I think that's what they're planning - it's just weird that they never thought of that before.
