Last time I left off I was on my way to Venice for the weekend. Since the booming Waterford airport only flies to the UK, I had to truck it to Shannon in order to fly to Venice. Typically it should take 2 - 2 ½ hours to get to Shannon from Waterford. I had to check in for my flight at 4:10 pm. I left work at noon which gave me plenty of time to go get my rental car #2 and drive to Shannon. Well needless to say after being stuck behind a tractor and some sheep, I made it to the Shannon airport at 4:15. has been a while since I have updated my blog. This is for 2 reasons 1) I haven't traveled anywhere exciting and 2) I don't have internet in my apartment so I have to do this from work. I am leaving today to go to Venice for the weekend, so I will have plenty of pictures for my next blog entry. I flew back to Ireland on July 1st. It was an uneventful trip, but it was the day after the Scotland airport car bomb so everyone was on high alert. I moved into my apartment, which is very nice. No internet though so that sucks. I have gone grocery shopping and have attempted to wash clothes in my washer/dryer unit that is the size of a small dishwasher. The normal cycle takes about 3 hours ... read more

I was flying back to the states for a week and my flight left Dublin Thursday morning. I decided it would better to spend the night in Dublin Wednesday night so I wouldn't have to wake up at 3:30 am to make my flight. So, Wednesday after work I drove 3 hours north to Dublin. My trusty GPS device steered me around 400 round-abouts right to the trusty, barren TravelLodge. The GPS device had a nice soothing British woman’s voice. Every time I made a wrong turn she would say “calculating route”. If you made the correct turn, she wouldn’t say anything. Top o' the mornin to ya lads, After I finished my research paper for class on Saturday, I decided it was time to see some of the Irish countryside. I drove down to a small city along the coast called Tremore. It was only about a 15 minute drive and relatively easy to find. Tremore was much different than I expected. There was an amusement park and the streets were lined with arcades, games and what looked like a boardwalk. It felt like what I think Coney Island must have been like in the 1940's. It was definitely a local hangout for teens and families. The beach had some sand, but nothing like Florida. It was overcast and pretty cool so I didn't even try the water. After attending class on Saturday, I left for the KC airport. Flights were fairly good. Delta did not provide individual TVs so we all had to look at the public TVs attached to the roof. I, of course, had the seat where the TV in front was too far and the one closest to me was above my head. I think I caught most of the movie, but I will have to watch it again to fill in some of the details of which I couldn't see. We landed in Dublin about an hour late because of head winds so our gate was not ready. We deplaned the entire 767 by a staircase and we were loaded on to buses.
