I am currently back in Alaska having just put Cassie on a flight back to Chad. We have just returned from a 20 day wilderness trip down the Noatak River above the Artic Circle. It was an amazing trip. A 2 hour flight north from Fairbanks to Bettles, a tiny village with no road access, and then another private charter flight on a float plne to the North West to the headwaters of the river. A 450 mile float until the first village, Noatak. No trails, no campsites, no rangers, no people, no way out! Spent the first week tooling around the National Park, relaxing, day hiking, eating, but not much paddling!! Great weather, fantastic scenery, impossible hiking.
