Well after close on 3 months on the road, and the prospect of having to return to work in the office looming, I thought I'd put a few final thoughts down here. Favourite Place All of the places allong the Gibb River Rd in the Kimberley were absolutely wonderfull. The highlight for me though was the Mitchell Falls. Words can't really describe this place. Simply awesome. Least Favourite Place The drive between Townsville and Cairns. Long, dry cattle plains with little to see, and hense quite a boring drive. Friends know I don't mind a long drive, but at least give me something to see whilst the kilometers tick away smile. Where Would I Go Back To I'll definitely be visiting the Kimberly, and Red Centre again. The one spot I would have loved to spend ... read more
Well, I'm back home in Perth now. To get here is about a 7-8 day drive from Cairns. I broke up my trip by catching up with some friends in Alice Springs and spending a few days revisiting some of my favourite places in the Red Centre. After that is was time to hit the dirt again for the run from Yulara (Ayers Rock Township) back via Giles, Warburton, Laverton and Kalgoorlie to Perth. As before, here's a few pics to enjoy from the region. ... read more
Well it's been a long time since the last entry. I'm actually in Alice Springs at the moment. I was going to post all this from Cairns, but there was no way I was paying the prices the internet connection providers were asking for wireless access in Cairns. ($10 per hour, come on - it's $3 to $4 per hour everywhere else). Anyhow, I've done a fair bit of travelling up here. From Cairns, past Cape Trib and up the Bloomfield Track to Cooktown, along into Lakefield NP, and along a really fun 4WD track from laura into the old gold mining area of Maytown on the Palmer River. I've also visited the hills around cairns (Kurumba, Atherton, Mareeba) where it's cool and green. Anyhow, have a look at some of the pice. Hope you enjoy. ... read more
I didn't expect to be putting in an entry at this time, but I stopped in a tiny little town (Croyden) in the Gulf area of Queensland, and surprise, surprise I've got a wireless connection. I think it's coming from the pub smile What can you say about the gulf country. It's cattle country. Dry, dusty and every so often a bloody great river, gorge or other such natural surprise. If you are ever up this was, don't miss Butterfly Gorge, the Western Lost City or Lawn Hill NP. As you've probably gathered by now, I'm not one for lots of words, I'll let the pictures show you what's about. Next stop tropical north Queensland - Cairns and points north.... read more
It's been a little while since my last entry, but there hasn't exactly been many place to connect to the net either smile. I'm in Darwin now, a great small city with a really lively feel. It makes a change for time spent out bush through the Gregory NP, Kakadu and Litchfield. Gregory is very remote. It took me 4 days to travel just under 300km over the tracks there. I don't think I managed to use anything other than 1st or 2nd gear, and only saw one other vehicle the whole time. Awesome. Kakadu and Litchfield are a lot closer to Darwin, and of course have many more visitors. It is still possible to get away from the crowds in some places, thank goodness for a 4WD. Anyhow, that's it for now. I hope this ... read more
Well I'm sitting here in Kununurra after spending nearly 4 weeks travelling from Perth, up to Broome and on through the Kimberley region of WA. What can I say. It's been great fun. We've bush camped under the open stars, seen awesome scenery and waterfalls, been rained in for a day or so until the roads were opened again (got 40mm in one night). Anyhow I thought I'd list some of my highlights so far. The gorges at Karijini NP in the Pilbara on the way up. Camping on the beach at Roebuck bay, Broome. Seeing all the crocs Being rained in at Mornington (great place to be stuck - they have a bar) Helping nervous overseas tourists get out of Mornington through all the mud. They loved it. The Mitchell Falls (especially the chopper flight) ... read more

Il''be starting in Perth WA (my home) and traveling to; the Kimberley in the north of WA, the top end of the NT, northern QLD / Cape York and returning through the Red Centre of the NT and back to Perth.
