So, 23 days since my last update? What have I been up to...? While a short question deserves a short answer, so does having to pay for internet. But I doubt that will happen. I left Znojmo on October 10th and made a very long and tiring journey to the student town of Olomouc (ollo-moats) via Brno with the expectation to be staying only three or four nights and a plan inmind to head to Kraków in Poland, having heard heaps of great things about it, before heading back to Prague and the North. Nope. I ended up staying a whole week. Olomouc is great. So great that if I hadn't already been to Melbourne it would be in my top two favorite and most likely places to live. It has that big city feel without ... read more

First off, I have very little idea how to pronounce the name of the town I'm staying, Znojmo (yeah, best of luck to you), as such when I got on the bus to get here, I just just showed the driver a piece of paper with the name written on it. My last entry left off with a couple days left in Prague and then I'd be headed on my way to Cesky Krumlov. Since than I've seen lots more than just Cesky Krumlov, but more of that to come later. Cesky Krumlov is a very beautiful town. So beautiful infact that it is packed with tourist. Lucky not like how Prague's sites are almost year-round and fortunate for me Cesky Krumlov is only full like that during the summer. Once again I'm glad to be ... read more

The same set of questions always seem to come up when meeting some new at a hostel. In fact the begining of the converstion will usually begin with (and any varation to): "Where are you from?" or/then "How long have you been in ?". From there the conversation goes back and forth between past travels and future plans. And then here's the turning point, if something clicks the conversation can continue about other things or will just stop right there... I've had my fair share of both. What can also happen, if you're unlucky, is names will never come up. I kid not, I can't begin to count the number of times I'll be talking with someone for a lengthy amount of time and no one introduced themselves. It's easy enough to start talking to someone, ... read more

It's been about a week since my first entry and I've done heaps of things since than (though I might not talk about them all here; gotta leave stories for when I get home). For the most part my time has been taken up with wondering around the city which is incredibly easy to do. Other than that, it's been museums, galleries and walking tours. And movies! The hostel I'm staying at has a really nice flat-screen t.v. and about 20 movies. It makes nice post-dinner activies. I don't think I raved enough (or at all) about this hostel in my last entry, so here it goes... Relative to other clean hostels in Prague, it's cheap. The location isn't in the center of the city but a close 15 minute walk/5 minute tram ride from the ... read more

As many of you may well know I am currenty embarking upon a 50 day adventure in the Czech Republic. For the rest of you, now you do! Yesturday, for me, I don't know when for you guys in Vancouver..., I landed in Prague after an eight and half hour trans-Atlantic flight to Amsterdam via KLM, the Royal Dutch Airways (and I will add it is by far the best air plane company I have flown with, everything about it was a head and shoulders above any other company out there, and it was then put into higher esteem when compaired to the flight from Amsterdam to Prague... but that's another story.) When I landed in Prague, I had a few choices on the methods of which to take to reach my hostel. There were taxis ... read more
