Wow! Sounds like it has been a great trip, Julia! You have done a good job of journaling your adventures......keep your notes to relive and enjoy your trip again and again in the future. I can't wait to hear about the last few days of your visit! Have a safe trip back to the States! - Toni
Fun! Julia Lynn - I am so enjoying reading about your experiences. Kathy and Rob got here Friday night and Rob said he has been doing the same. Yesterday we went down to Main Street and "did" the antiques deal, which was a lot of fun, as it was reasonably cool with cloud cover up until the last 20 minutes or so. We enjoyed it. We stopped by the shop before we went down there to see your Mom (your Dad did not have a game, so she was working in the morning and he was going to come in for the afternoon). We plan to meet the whole family at Fatz today (to celebrate Father's Day) at 1:00. They plan to leave Friday morning, so it is not a whole lot of time to be together, but certainly better than the years that I did not see Rob at all. He brought me up to date on the boys, although he has more or less been relegated to left field in their life since separating from Jan and connecting with Kathy. He has not seen the new little boy of Mark and Vianca. They seem to be content. Tom, after having graduated with an architectural degree has not been able to find work in that arena and has now gotten (hopefully for a temporary stop-gap) a gardener's job at Mohonk Mountain House - when you get a chance to see that, go on line to their website - it is phenomenal. He is dating a girl named Maggie, who Rob says is a teacher, very nice, very intelligent, and is going to go with Tom. Kevin keeps in touch with nobody it seems, but in a roundabout way, they hear there is a girl named Steph in the picture. Go, Kev! Anyway, he has been able to procure a condo, still has his architectural job in N.Y.C. and has been instrumental in designing the newsroom of "Meet the Press" and another newsroom that I can't remember, but it sounds as if things are going well for him.
Anxious for your next posting. What an amazing adventure! Love and hugs from your Aunt Nancy!!!XXXX
love the adventure Julia, we are enjoying the blogs - hope you are safe going to the bars to watch the World Cup games. You are the only Grand Daughter we have, so worry about you! Hope you are learning lots and bring back some pictures.
i still have to write a paper and do a small group project, but for the most part im done with the class stuff. I have met many cool Ghanians, everyone here is sooooooo nice and helpful. The NC State teachers def prefer the Ghana lifestyle! Ahh wilmington! i wanna go to there sometime when i get back! thanks for the response! love and miss you girly!
Juliaaa what a crazy different life you're living right now! Are u saying you already got your 6 credits in like 2 weeks?! If so awesomeee! and good thing u know how to haggle with the salespeople. I'm sure many foreigners/Americans get scammed if they don't know how to do it. Have u met some cool people, Africans or Americans? I seriously cannot wait to hear all the details when u return. As for now this blog is great! Also, do the former NC State teachers who teach over there prefer the Ghana way of life to the American lifestyle? Ahh I miss you more than you know, seriously. I'm in Wilmington now...if u catch my drift. I have lots to catch u up on as well but public blog is no way to inform you of my love life! Meet in Ghanian hotties? :) love you cant wait for u to be bizack. Mwah much love!
I came across your blog by accident, but I'm looking forward to reading about your experiences in Ghana. I hear they have yummy banana gum! My blog is always looking for travel photos, social commentaries, reviews, etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email us at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Good luck adjusting to your new environment!
Heather :)
Excited to hear about the trip! Hi there, Julia! I look forward to living vicariously on your experiences, as it is such a wonderful opportunity for you to learn and appreciate. I always felt that it would be dangerous for me to ever visit Africa (perhaps not in the vicinity in which you are in now) because of the beauty of those people, those animals, that country in general - I am fearful of losing my heart to it and never wanting to return to this country. Travel is a way in which we can expand our thinking and our acceptance of others who are not like ourselves. I am so happy that you are there. Enjoy. And I will take the trip with you via the blog. Love and hugs. Aunt Nancy
