Today is the start of the last half of our adventure. Up early for breakfast and then sit in lobby til all off the ship. we got off with the 64 others that are staying on to miami. Not as organized at this port as vancouver. Had to go thru customs and sit for an hour before we got back on. Still got a bike at the gym with no wait. Lunch at Cagney's and then phone calls to friends and family. Trivia, trivia, show and dinner with a nice couple from florida that live out of their motor home and another nice couple from Australia. Another sea day. Breakfast at Cagney's and trivia. Hotel director's talk and lunch and then cocktail party for silver, gold and platinum travelers. Met two nice ladies from vancouver and chatted. Sports trivia, geography trivia (from pics - we sucked) and the show. Best show i have ever seen on a ship. Dinner with a group of eight that was a lot of fun. Early nite. Up before 6 am to see us passing under the golden gate bridge. not quite light out but enuf to see that appears that we barely clear the bridge but clearly we must have plenty of room. Breakfast immedately after. We get ready in the room and are just into the atrium when they announce that we can go ashore. no line at the gangway and we are walking towards the pier for alcatraz in no time. Woke at 8 and threw on clothes for breakfast. They close all down at 9 and we wanted to eat before lunch. Saw Helen and lorraine and had breakfast for them and one last hug before they left. hung out on floor 7 and waited til a little after 10. We finally found the right person to help us. About 12 of us waited in the Atrium and then we were escorted off the ship and showed our passports to canadian customs. We sat on folding chairs for 10 minutes and then went thru us customs and back onto the ship. Went to the gym while bikes were available and then to lunch. Fun to hang out when no one is on the ship. Moving along the inside passage for most of the day but as the captain said since we don't have wheels we have to go outside for a little while. it got a little rough but nothing compared to the transatlantic crossing. Just took it easy today. Trivia in the am and lunch with ron and jack in the main dining room. easy afternoon and cocktail party in our room at 6 to drink leftover wine. Of course it got rowdy and noisy. then dinner in Indigo and we managed to close up another restaurant. got 2 complementary bottles of champagne. Arrived late in ketchikan- around 10:30. Our excursion for Misty Fjords was cancelled due to bad weather. It was very rocky and foggy. Walked around town a little with Toni, Jack and Ron. they went to the library for the internet and i shopped a little, bought a disposable camera, and back to ship. Cocktail party for silver, gold and platinum. Jorge, F and B manager, got me a bag of rice so i am trying to cure my camera. Had several group pics done by the photographer before we ate.
