WOW Hello from Ottawa Emily. You are on quite the adventure I can see. I often talk to people that backpack around different places in the world and I am amazed at the places that they end up and find their stories interesting. I listen to what they tell me and can only imagine what a adventure it must be. It is hard to think of going off on a trip like that alone and never really knowing 100% where they may end up. I admire you willingness to explore this great world of ours and only wish I could have taken the time in my younger years and maybe tried what you are doing now. BEST of luck on your travels and be careful......Don't do anything I wouldn't do. If you follow that advice, you should have a BLAST!!! Take care and BE CAREFUL!!! :-) Cousin Adam xo

Has you mom and dad lost it??? letting you travel around the world and you only 16. Hola Miguel! I definitely do need to take in un partido de futbol - I haven't yet but will for sure. I'm still loving my trip and heading to Brazil in a couple of days. Wishing you and your family and friends in San Carlos all the best!
Hola Aunt Mary Jo! I am definitely staying wary, always careful and all that. I'm lucky so far, hoping to stay that way... at the same time, nothing I brought is irreplaceable except perhaps the beautiful photos I'm taking that I will have to show you when I get a chance!
Lauren! I hope to be in Rosario, Argentina, where Che Guevara was born in not too long. I'll post my thoughts. What is new with you? I'll definitely see you at school come September. Ciao!

Hola What an adventure! I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Life in the valley is pretty uneventful but the camus is blooming and the meadows are a carpet of blue, yellow and green. Spring has sprung.
Take care, Annette
Be our eyes on another continent Emmy, you just make me jealous. But then through you, I can see and do some of the things I wanted to do when I was 20. I am torn between the vicarious experiences, and being a surrogate parent who worries about unexpected dangers. Be open, but wily--wary of those that might not be as well intentioned as you. Keep your freshness. I am so happy that we Canadians and we in BC have you as our face in Latin America. ENJOY.

BsAs trippin I love the "wandering" method of visiting a new place. My best experiences were mostly happpenstance, and where else will you see those very telling slices of life ? I'm glad you have the adventurous spirit ! The graveyard sounds like New Orleans...
Love the stories, thanks for the effort.

I am a Canadian student of Human Rights, Political Science, Spanish and a bit of Philosophy thrown in for good measure. I love to experience culture and find beauty in people and places on a backpacker's budget. I hold adventure over comfort but balance safety with adventure and usually head off on my own loving the independence of a nomadic lifestyle. This blog currently documents my four month trip to South and Central America in the summer of 2009 but will include future adventures as well. Although I am not currently travelling, I write a column on culture and travel in my university n... full info
