On Monday, August 6th, 2012 we traveled to Houmas House Plantation outside of Darrow, Louisiana. This River Road Plantation in also known as "The Sugar Palace". While the plantation home is beautiful inside and out, the gardens surrounding the house are the highlight of the property. The actual tour of the house seemed a bit rushed, lasting only 30 minutes. If visiting from June - September like we did, be sure to get there early, as it does does quite warm and muggy in the afternoon.
