Good to see your trip!!! Even though you put your trip details in 2008, I am reading it in 2011. Its so good to read it. I love long traveling. I have a scorpio too in India. I always wanted to make a group or club of people where like minded people can travel across the country but I have never found any. Well, I live in New York but soon will be in India. So email me lets plan something. I am not quite sure if you will be still interested in long trips after 3 years :)
nice trip bhaiya I read the trip that you have added . It was one of the finest trip that anyone could think of. with a driving patience of 4970 kms. hats off to you for the drive . and to the scorpio.
i agree We are also crazy travellers. My father an dI love to drive. We have also always had a mahindra car. First an Armada and then a Scorpio. We are from Mumbai and have travelled by our Scorpio from Mumbai to Badrinath and from Mumbai to Jammu. Its amazing and its our best car cum friend ever. Good luck with ur travels.
good luck for your trip. Orrissa, WB as i found were very comfortable, and friendly in terms of social safety in the route i followed, as mostly i took a break after 12.00 @ midnight.
Its nice to hear from someone with similar interests in driving and travelling, i too would be glad to know details about places you have travelled, got u r email id i shall get in touch with u. thanks for the comment.
planning a similar trip later this month Good to see people doing such long drives. I planning to do a similar one myself bangalore-chennai-kolkatta-gangtok-kolkatta-lucknow. In the interest of safety and maximum pleasure of driving, I remain open to taking longer route. Earlier, I have done lucknow-agra-udaipur-gandhinagar-mumbai-pune-belgaum-bangalore circuit twice in six months. My experience with west side of Golden Quadilateral has been pretty good and from your post it seems the east side is equally good. The NHAI site also seems to suggest the same. I will study the directions more as I plan and come back to you if there are any specific questions. Meanwhile, I would like to have insight about the social safety along the proposed route bangalore-kolkatta-gangtok-kolkatta-patna-lucknow. I have a few apprehensions about Orissa, WB like some parts of UP, MP and AP.
I always have my seat belts on.
cheers!
reg route via durgapur hi,
i was aware of that route but many known sources told me to avoid road passing through Medinipur--salbani--Bishnupur as it is unsafe to travel that way (w.r.t unsocial elements) and that was one of the major reason why i opted for route via Kolkatta
Shorter Route. Nice and well written Travelogue, I just wanted to add
that if you have taken NH 60 from Kharagpur to Durgapur
then NH2 to Darjeeling more and then Panagarh - Moregram
expressway till near about Maldah, In this route you would
have bypassed kolkata and driven thru a better road till
Maldah, Most of the Cars from South India goes to Darjeeling
/Sikkim via this route since this is much shorter and roads are
in Much Better Shape.
Hardcore loyalist Your love for your Scorpio very much evident all thru your trip.Meanwhile now that the govt. of India is also encouraging tourism to the NER, WB roads - some food for thought.
