Nice Props Hey buddy...that is good news that you will be coming back this way at the end of July...too bad you can't make the show...but thanks for giving it airtime...everything is coming together and it should be a blast!

For the rest of the dipshits out there that still don't know what hegemony is...I had to look it up as well:
This is a term used by A. Gramsci to describe how the domination of one class over others is achieved by a combination of political and ideological means. Although political forcecoercionis always important, the role of ideology in winning the consent of the dominated classes may be even more significant. The balance between coercion and consent will vary from society to society, the latter being more important in capitalist societies. . . . Hegemony is unlikely ever to be complete.
Thanks Kusano for helping realize that I have the intellect of the furry little guy that eats apples, bamboo and gets laid once a year...that's awesome.
your shoes.... Now I understand why everybody is staring at you. Your shoes are blinding Kusano. Seriously, try to blend. But really, keep the pictures and stories coming, they're awesome! :) -Amy
a palace! damn, that room looks pretty palatial compared with backpacker central here in bangkok. maybe i'll step it up to your level once i get to cambodia. a girl can dream...
All caught up... Well...since I am extremely busy at work, I decided to take the last 45 minutes as personal time and catch up on what Kusano has been up too...
Good stuff my friend, I have to say that I muffled several laughs from my front office by pretending to cough...the back office lady asked if allergy season was getting to me too...
We have won our last 2 softball games...its not the same without Johnny Red Shoes...
Be safe, keep the stories coming!

you did what? ah, the toilet paper. universal system in developing countries (assuming they provide you with any at all). you're probably responsible for the toilet backing up into someone's bathtub somewhere closeby. now that you know what that little basket is for, you'll be less shocked when you find out where the sewage from said toilet ends up. i keep forgetting about the tp thing here in thailand. but am happy to see that there are a whole lot more western toilets around than the last time i was here. i haven't had to squat yet! - meg
culture shock Hi Mike, I have lived in the UK for six years and I come back to China for one month each year. However this year, I find it so difficult to cope with cultural differences . It is interesting to read your travelblog because you are coming from the UK and writing about China. I am coming from China originally and now I am suffering some 'cultural shock', the similar feelings I had when I first went to the UK. I find life very interesting in so many ways.
the food and crossing the road are different and if you stay longer, you will find millions of things are difficult and UK system actually gives people freedom and enjoyment of life. China as a new captialism country, isn't a good place to live.
I just find it interesting to read ur travelbog. good luck for your studies in China.
