:) Kate Price! First of all, I've so enjoyed following your travels and your wonderful thoughts up until now! It sounds as though you've truly taken to heart what exactly this program is all about and that is marvelous love. This may not make sense, but you (and people like you) truly inspire me. In each of these posts you put yourself and your ideas out there and the conviction behind them: you allow yourself to be, in other words. (Just like M. Vanier's hope for this program...and well, for humanity I guess.) Lastly my dear Kate Price, you are a beautiful writer and never let yourself think otherwise. I only wish I could be in Fredericton this fall to talk for hours on end with you about this experience, but I will be away on my own journey next year.
PS...I just listened to a little JP a while ago, it made me miss you immensely.
Praying for you :) I've been thinking of you a lot since you left and I hope God is richly blessing you as he blessed me when I was away in El Salvador! We have so much to catch up on! I can't wait to see you when you get home! Email me the time and place when you know your return date. :) I love you Kate!

I miss you BFF!

Adventure Glad to hear from you Kate and learn more about your excellent adventure. I'm excited that you like teaching so much. Could that be a career idea for you?
2009 summer on PEI: 2010 summer in Addokope, where will you be in summer 2011?
Hugs, Aunt Earlene
So proud of you! It sounds as though you are doing wonderful things, and I can't wait to hear more details when you get home (don't think I won't pry them out of you lol). It sounds as though you've become a part of their lives as much as they've become a part of yours. I know it will be very difficult for you to leave, but your family on this side of the planet will be very happy to see you again. Love, Mom and Dad :P
I LOVED your Ghana post, and didn't think it was too impersonal, or too personal :) Sounds like you're having an incredible experience there. I've heard great things about Ghana but have yet to go there myself. My blog is looking for travel reviews, photos, etc, to share (if there are any foods in particular you've discovered, we feature those as well!). If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email me at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Continued fun on your travels!
Heather :)
love you, mean it This is wonderful monster!!! It is so good to get an update about your life and to hear that you are doing good. It sounds like you have really been emersed into a new world and I can't wait to see pictures and hear your wonderful stories when you get home. I listen to almost all of those songs often and I think of you always! miss and love you!!! Love Faye xoxo
Safe travels! Hi Kate, as I write this I assume you are probably nearing Toronto now and soon will be on to the next leg of your journey. I just want to wish you all the best and I am looking forward to checking your blog during the next 3 and a half months. What an amazing opportunity you have and I just know you will make the most of it. I will be especially interested in hearing about your teaching experiences! Take care!

To Kate! "When there are no words... know that the silences are carrying the thoughts and prayers of all who love you."
-Dawn Dais
I may have shared this quote with you before but I think it's a good reminder. Especially on a day like today. When you are out under the African stars and nothing but silence surrounds you, remember how much you are loved by everyone who knows you. We'll be thinking of you!
Kate,
I have to say I admire you moreso than ever. Going to Africa is a big deal, and I can't think of anyone else that would handle it better than you. I would be a mess by this point, but you're so articulate and meticulous with your thoughts and aspirations. I admire that.
I have to agree on the Valley point. You're probably the only other person I've met who feels that way!
Have a ball in Ghana, Kate! You deserve it. Learn all that you can, bring it back, and share it with Canada.
:) Hi Kate.. while 'studying' for exams I stumbled across your blog. So happy to hear that you are going to Africa, I know its something you've been thinking about for a long time. I hope you have a safe trip- sounds like it will be an amazing learning experience.
que rica es la vida OR how rich life is Dear Kate,
Kate,
One day when I was sitting alone in my room in Costa Rica I felt a little homesick and decided to listen to one of the Vinyl Cafe podcasts I had been saving for such occasions. And when, towards the end of the show, Stuart McLane said the following, my eyes welled up with tears. He said, "Life is rich wherever you live it."And it is dear friend. Ghana will be rich. Richer than can possibly be imagined, and I know in my heart of hearts that YOU, Kate Price, will appreciate this experience in way that no one else could.
Beautiful You are a person that embodies beauty inside and out and I know you will make a difference in people's lives where ever you go. I feel as though we are kindred spirits in many ways and I will miss you very much but I know that Africa is where you long to be so I hope you worry less and let the African people and way of life take over your beautiful spirit. Can't wait to follow your blog as you travel!
I Getcha Woman The valley, Fredericton, Africa ... all very different places, all very different ideals and goals and people. Experiment with and experience all of them. As one valley girl to another, there's nothing wrong with getting away - it makes going back better, and if you don't want to, that's your choice. Go get 'em, woman!
Good post, Kate, although didn't you leave the valley when you decided to go to university in Fredericton? I know Fredericton and Africa are a little bit different, but it seems like you just wanted to take a shot at the Valley. Not that I blame you though lol. I also like that being a responsible adult made the list of things you'll miss the least, not convinced you'll be able to avoid it by going to Africa, but let me know if it works.
Kate, you have always been such an inspiration and reading your (well-written BTW) plans makes me very excited for you and all that you will experience but, more importantly, what you will give from that huge heart of yours to the people of Ghana while you are among them. Know that we will be praying for you every day and I know you will enjoy every second because that's just what you do. We love you and can't wait to hear the details of your journey!
you're my hero Hey Kate, just read your blog and I just wanted to say that I'm really happy for you that you ended up getting your wish of going to Africa, last time I talked to you it was still up in the air. Anyways, I hope you have a really good experience in Ghana and that you teach the people there as much as they'll end up teaching you. I'm a little disappointed that I won't get to see any pictures from your trip on fb, I understand your reasons for not putting them up, but I also think that they could promote more of an understanding of what you experience over there. Either way, I hope I get a chance to talk with you about the trip once you're back, will you be back in the valley at all? Anyways, have a safe trip, and have a good time in Ghana!
Whoever told you that you aren't a good writer is an idiot. This is the type of writing you were meant for, my dear. I can't wait to hear more, and we're all very excited for you :)
Ghana Hi Kate: So glad to hear your plans are coming together and your dream is about to come true! I think what you are doing is great! Having traveled and lived in third world countries myself, I can truly relate to what you are doing. It is a real eye opener to actually LIVE in the culture of another people and country. It is the only way to relate and understand their culture, by actually living with them on a daily basis. I think this experience will have a profound affect on how you see the world. I know my travels have certainly changed me and how I live my life and view the world. The experience is different for everyone. I hope you get everything you hope for during this journey. Take care of yourself and do take the time to keep a journal. Time passes quickly and you can forget things. I wish I had kept journals from all my travels. I kept bits and pieces and I have lots of memories but I really wish I had documented the best bits. Bon Voyage! xo
Take your camera! Hi Kate,
I am so happy for you that you are travelling to Africa! I know that you will love it!
I disagree about the camera - being young and white will make you stand out like a tourist - not having a camera! Even living in Ethiopia I still take pictures all the time, just like Canadians take pictures all the time here. It has nothing to do with you wanting to portrait Africa as some imagine, it is about memories, whether those memories are here or in Africa or wherever....I see nothing wrong with taking a camera!
(did you get my reply on facebook from your message?)
I'm a soon to be twenty year old, going to school at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB, Canada. This summer I'm participating in a program called Intercordia Canada which will have me living near Sega, Ghana for three and a half months this summer. I'll be living with a Ghanaian family and teaching at the Anchmara International School near my village. I'm going to try and write as much as I can pre, during and post trip for everyone who has helped me get to Ghana, you deserve to be a part of my journey as much as a possible. This is the story of a girl who is finally getting her wish to... full info
