Day 11 – 3/3/2015 After yesterday’s very early & long, busy day, slept like a log until 9.10am. Must have needed the rest I think! Two loads of washing later, we were off in the car again. This time just a short 48km trip down the road to Coffin Bay. We stopped at the Beachcomber store in the main street, where we ordered 1 dozen oysters Kilpatrick. Sitting at one of their many tables, we set about devouring these wonderful delicacies. While we have eaten Barilla Bay & Get Shucked oysters in Tasmania, which by the way were just wonderful, today’s Coffin Bay oysters were the best ever. Their taste was just so smooth & as we upended our final shell each, Deb & I looked at one another & just went “mmmmmm”! I can thoroughly ... read more

With almost every meal under $20, this is a must go to pub for good food at a decent price. Ohhh, drinks are cheap too! Total kms for the day: 678... read more

Day 4 – 24/2/2015 Quiet day. The wind has finally subsided after another rough night of buffeting. Deb catching up with a friend in the city. Day 5 – 25/2/2015 Washing day since the weather is perfect. Went for a drive around Adelaide’s South & West. Got abused by a couple of SA drivers just because I had Vic number plates. Went to Westfield Marion to catch up with friends. Day 6 – 26/2/2015 Went for a drive through Adelaide’s Northern suburbs where things have changed quite markedly. Did a spot of evening fishing on Glenelg beach just before sunset which was extremely pleasant. The only fish caught was a small Tommy Ruff that was returned to the water.... read more

Day 2 – 22/2/2015 We awoke to rain on the roof of the van about 5am. Departed Robe at 8.45am knowing it would be another hot day. The temperature soared quickly in the first hour from 19C to 32C. Stopped for lunch in Meningie next to the beautiful Lake Albert to allow the sore backside time to recover as the cramp was quite painful. Arrived at the Adelaide Shores Big 4 Caravan Park at almost 2pm, a total of 5 hours & 15 mins on the road including breaks. Had a well earned Scotch Fillet steak for dinner on the caravan park bbq along with several refreshments. Again it was off to the beach, followed by a swim in the pool where we met some wonderful people from Qld, then off to bed for more much ... read more

Day 1 - 21/2/2015 Departed home at 2.35am. Arrived in Apollo Bay at 6.45am & had a fantastic breakfast at the Apollo Bay Bakery. Sourdough roll with bacon & egg (huge) & cooked to perfection. A pot of tea for 2 cost $5 which gave us 6 decent size cups (less than $1 a cup!) which was exceptional value & all delivered to your table with a smile. Next it was off to the 12 Apostles & Loch Ard Gorge near Pt Campbell for several photos & just taking in the magnificent scenery before going back on our merry way. Some of the Great Ocean Road was patchy, but for the most part an exceptional drive. Lots of impatient drivers overtaking in risky sections despite getting over at every opportunity. Warrnambool was our first fuel stop: ... read more
