Monday 7th July Lazy day today as weather is poor headed off to see the largest cuckoo clock in the world which was an anticlimax if ever there was one at least we only got there at 5 to the hour and not 25 to . Drove into triberg only to see a sign pointing to the largest cuckoo clock in the world so dont know how many there are and whether we saw the real one . As was still raining just had a drive round the area and back to camp. We started a glass of wine with the intention of walking a mile into town , then another glass still raining then decided greek restaurant 1/2 mile away then another glass rain heavier , camp restaurant , more wine - what have we ... read more

Sunday 6th July Set out for a trip to Waldkirch and stumbled across a sunday street market with classic car festival and lots of stalls serving beer. It would be rude not to have at least a cheeky radler! Watching steve with the cars I thought I had swapped husbands for a minute.( 1st husban used to read the auto trader to me in bed ! ) Had a brief chat with a german chap about the tour de france in leeds - finally someone may talk about something else than manchester united when you say you are from england. Its about 28 degrees and rising Tried to find the tree walk but ended up going to simonswald to find our very first campsite from 2001 europe adventure the town seems to have changed in 13 ... read more

Friday 4th July Set off for ferry in good time leaving time for tea out before last boarding at 7 only to get stuck behind an accident on m62 waiting for air ambulance to land take off . Was only delayed by 15 mins managed a pizza and made it at 6.52 after several tours of the docks due to poor signage. Once aboard bumped into a stag party where the stag had chosen to wear a dress but not a very good one at that . Settled in to watch Brazil Colombia match and steve had to physically move someone who came to visit his red indian friend right in front of the screen whilst colombia where just about to take the penalty! Caught the end of the cabaret beatles turning into take that and ... read more

We got there it was shit… so despite saying we never go anywhere twice we headed for Lake Titisee ( no chuckles please..) we visited here on our first Euro trip in 2001 ( paper copies of blog available for all those interested – Lynsey Mills need not apply as I have already read this out from cover to cover whilst drunk one Saturday night – another great night in with the Fennas!! Heres where we met another star of our show Paddy Schmitt – why you ask is he called that – we were showing some interest in cuckoo clocks mainly because the shop was full of them and it was something to do when Paddy came over to practice his best English as he thought we may want to buy one – what at ... read more

Friday 24th June After 2 weeks of packing and unpacking its time to go on holiday and pack and unpack yet again. The usual last minute mad rush to set off for 5 o’clock - Steve started at 9am – cats to take back to Lower Dingle sure they are not confused one bit but at least Dave will be able to feed them his last lot of chicken nuggets – just when Tevez seem to have lost weight after all the stairs in the chapel ! Just had the bikes to go on back at Lower Dingle when Steve thought the keys were at the other end of the M62! Now for avid followers of our travels this is a familiar story (2010 – bikes in Surrey keys in Oldham – 2009 bikes chained to ... read more

Saturday 10th July Away from camp at 9am for 3 hour journey to Alsace. Arrived safely lovely campsite in the middle of nowhere, secluded pitches surrounded by hedges/trees. Pool looks and people on site very friendly. Put tent up in the searing 90 degrees of heat - full gym workout doesn’t make you sweatthis much. Drove to nearest hypermarket to get supplies for weekend as we know all shut on Sunday - prices back to normal after Switzerland but weather not 37 degrees at 6pm outside the supermarket. Back to tent for chilling after an arduous erection. Made a chicken madras and rice with a nice bottle of red - your typical French cuisine for a Saturday night. Sunday 11th July Decided to stay at camp today and chill at campsite and do a bit of ... read more

Got the free bus and boat from campsite to Locarno - shared a pizza for tea , did some people watching at the beer tent outside the square - just to work out who really does go to a swiss Stevie Wonder concert - real mixed bag from 18 -85. Really good setting in the main piazza managed to get around 20 rows from the front so could actually see the stage - Steve disappeared just as SW made his entrance to use the WC. Really good night much better live than on the IPod. Finished around 11pm - bus back to camp at 11.40 there was a very drunken person on the bus who got off three times after nearly falling over each time - checked his surroundings and when it wasn’t right got back ... read more

Sunday 4th July Woke up to rain - has been raining most of the night so all washing wetter than it was before including the only towels so a drip to the tumble dryer it was for domestic goddess Steve ! Once sorted went out for a drive up the Grimmel pass to find some snow - beautiful scenery and lots of hair pin bends - stopped at the top for lunch and checked out the marmots which were quite happy to perform a dance whilst we took their photograph and then I managed to get myself an electric shock whilst leaning on the fence. On way back to camp tried to find Wildpark Brienz but after 20 mins of following signs going nowhere we gave up. Really good leaflet from tourist information but shit signage! ... read more

Friday 2nd July Mostly travel today - more sleeping on autobahn so don’t see how fast steve is driving. Mangaged to get through Austria without buying the compulsory tax - Swiss customs didn’t seeme to be too worried about us either so the illegal immigrants in the storage box are OK and the crack cocaine is still safe ( that is a joke for all concerned relatives who think we are people trafficking and drug smuggling!) . Arrived at campsite about three - beautiful setting right besides the lake - couldn’t get a spot right on the lakes edge but for reasons described tomorrow this was a blessing in disguise. Are sandwiched in between the dutch and the germans - everyone very pleasant , facilities are excellent showers are bigger than our en suite bathroom. Couldn’t ... read more
