While in Cambodia I realized many new things about the poverty faced in the third world. I was shocked to learn the GDP per person was only, $2709. As compared to the US's $43,680 its hard to imagine how this is a livable amount of money and it shows while in the country. Many women their could not afford basic child care or pregnancy care. This amount of poverty is directly connected to the child mortality rate of 73 per 1000, this means if you have a child there is a 7% chance it will not make it to 5 years old. This is compared to the child mortality rate in the US of about 1%. It is clear this difference is derived from the amount GDP per person. Which also leads to Cambodia's problem with
