Just a little update on what I’ve been doing.. so after my last blog I got some interviews for ‘backpacker’ jobs which I’d applied for on gumtree and they all turned out to be door to door sales, the thing with these jobs is that they say to you ‘do you want the job?’ after explaining how easy and how much money you can make each week (the joys of sales and having a salesperson who is on commission interviewing you) rather than them saying ‘we want you to work for us’ and as desperate as I was I don’t want to be doing that, especially when I woke up on Monday morning after St patricks day when I was meant to go for some training for one of the jobs with a hangover and could ... read more

So the day has finally arrived! It has come around so quickly I can’t believe it. I like that I’ve been busy right up until the last minute as I hate waiting around to go! And at the last minute I did decide to get travel insurance! I realized I’m too clumsy not to.. a memory of fracturing my arm while at a roller disco is North Carolina in 2010 came to mind! I’ve said most of my goodbyes and got to sleep surprisingly well last night, normally I have the nervous/ exciting feeling but this time leaving just feels…normal, although I am very excited about getting back to Melbourne. It all started on 1stJanuary 2010 when I decided I wasn’t going to spend another uneventful summer in England. I typed ‘working holidays’ into Google and America appeared. America had always seemed so far away and having only visited places in Europe before this seemed like an amazing destination. So that same day i applied for camp leaders and 5 months later I was flying to North Carolina to spend 3 months working at a Summer Camp teaching western horse riding followed by 4 weeks of visiting the places you see on TV- Miami, NYC and L.A.. the travel bug had bit.
