Not even in Africa.... Mate.... You did hit it bad! I flew the same day - but from Jo'burg to Kigali, Kigali to Entebbe. No glitches and a great flight. Amazing how Africa seemed to get it all smooth - but the Westerners made a glorified mess.
I must admit, you did have me in stictches.
Well at least you're outta.
Cheers for now.
Dude - that's gotta be a record After probably hundreds of flight legs in my life I have never experienced anything approaching that bad. Thankfully it's mostly under control now since this Tuesday it's *my* girl's time to fly to the UK on BA!
You are the Duracel Bunny! We got really excited and thought we might make a mention in the blog, (having met up for a couple of hours!) I guess a hotel in Guilford, England doesn't really fall under the remit of historic/ancient buildings. So cool to see you.....hope you got out of the country ok....things have been a bit crazy at airports around here!
Ah yes, the famous John Hancock tower In the old days, you didn't get too close to it on a windy day: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hancock_Tower#Falling_glass_panes
I loved the night time photo of Fannuel Hall - did you go inside?
Sorry... Sorry Mark, I've well and truly left Boston now, so too late!! I did take a ride on the T, and I did go to those leafy suburbs you mention - they were great!! Didn't eat at wendy's though :)
How come via Chicago O'Hare? LAX to Boston is bad enough - but via Chicago?
Hey, make sure you take a ride on the T for me. If I remember correctly the green line is the fun one where you walk on the tracks and it can take you all the way into some beautiful leafy suburbs.
Actually, if you do want to look into something for me... The local department store used to be called Filenes (now rebranded Macys) and it had this thing calle the "Filenes Automatic Discount Basement" where anything on the shelf more than a few months went to the first basement level (5% off) then the next (10% off) and so on until eventually it hit the bottom and was given to charity. I'd love to know if they still do that even though it's branded Macys.
You can have a burger at Wendys across the road after you've checked it out :)
Of course they dont smile may i just remind you, americans take their jobs very seriously! they ARE told not to smile, so you provoking them with small talk only makes them more serious. best to walk through in an orderly fashion, dont make undue facial movements, and keep your hands where they can see them.
and i would love to see photos... please???
looking forward to hearing more (the Thambiratnam blogs are highlights to my un-travelled week!!!)
lots o love
INDULGE US Come on Dave! Indulge us. Some of us don't get to fly Business class or get to spent company money. I am sure you could make us feel like we were there!!!
Just browsing the travel blog site, peoples blogs on travel are pretty informative on other countries and their cultures. Then I notice the really daft comment by "Brother Uche......". Why can't we all live in peace, REGARDLESS of our religous background. The reason why so many wars are fought and so many people are killed are because of intolerant people like Brother Uche. I'm not saying Christianity is a perfect religion because lots of bad things have happened during the era of Christianity, but intolerant Muslims are no better than any other intolerant person of another religion.
HEY! Hey you guys, great news that you are travelling again... not so great that you have to separate for some weeks...
Hope all is well.
Love and miss!!!

SO jealous you're going to Boston! My favourite US city! I haven't been there since the Big Dig was completed, so now it should be even more beautiful.
Big Church The Big Church doesn't have a specific name, but it's well known as Mexico's Cathedral... There's also a big church "La Villa" that I recommend you to go. Is not a beautiful building, but inside is the image of "La Virgen de Guadalupe" which is famous around the world..
picture request! i am a star wars fan since i was a child and my main favorite scenes are the mos eisley/espa and the sanddesert scenes.
may i ask you, if you´re willing to share all the pictures you took on the amazing holiday? i would REALLY appreciate your help!
thank you very much!
cheers,
Roger

a couple other things... yeap, agree with marco, and also, not the whole city is sinking, and they are way on their way to stop that from happening. Never believe anything americans say about mexico, the whole hard shell taco culture is actually called tex-mex food, and it was born, you guessed it, in texas. Another thing is that we don't regularly use ground beef to make tacos. Last thing is that the city of teotihuacan, was actually built not exactly by the toltecs. The aztecs came to place themselves over there and renamed themselves mexicas, and they did scuffle a lot with the toltecs until they finally overpowered them and got a whole "empire" thing going...
Nice to see you got a kick out of mexico, its cool when people go back with better ideas than only "its polluted!, its dangerous" and that sorta stuff...

Beutiful Really beautiful pictures of Santorini. Every body should at least go once to Santorini in their life.

rwanda and the teachings of elijah muhhammad. you righthly said that we should watch hotel rwanda but what you failed to mention was that the reason for the genocide in rwanda and in every dark skinned country is you and your forefathers.mr farrahkhan taught us that as long as we follow christianity and dont kill europeans on sight we will always live under the chastisement of allah.and by the way your 6000 year rule over 'us' is almost up. think about.
You guys are too cool. You totally should have tried to sell him something. Albeit I'm sure some other tourist has done that before. Shoot... I'm from New Jersey, and while I'm not rude, I would have ignored most of that. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun though. I'm very impressed.

Smog
Great blog and pics! I believe you mixed up LA and New York... no smog in New York, plenty of smog in LA. :-)
