Nightmares and Anti-Malaria Drugs Since returning from Panama, I've heard from two pharmacist friends that certain anti-malarial drugs frequently cause paranoia and hallucinations. I don't know which ones they are or which one Mamma took, but it's worth considering if you're planning on taking any. CDC identifies several options for anti-malarial agents, though Chris, Nadette and I opted to forego any drugs. Either way though, you can't donate blood for a couple years after going to certain places in certain central American countries, including parts of Panama.
Thank you! Hi there, just wanted to thank you for your comment on my page about being an American in a foreign land and the ups and downs that come along with it. Although I rationally know that people of any nationality and in any country go through at least something similar to that, it's good to hear that I have support and am not just being a bitter, close-minded American. Besides, after a good rant, I felt better and know at all times that the good far outweigh the bad for me here. And by the way, your trip to Panama looked incredible, I will read more as soon as I can. Thanks for the message and happy Thermopolis-ing!
Ruth, I love reading about your travels. We went to Japan and Malaysia for Christmas and wish we could have done it twenty years sooner also!!!! Wonderful memories though. Elaine
dreams my sister always reported better dreams than the rest of us -- so her colorful report of "panama" was what i expected -- i would not be at all surprised if she did not add additional remembrances of this trip to "extreme panama" sometime in the future
you are indeed a very speccial one of a kind. no one I know but Drruth woould be brave enough to do what you do and still be able to enjoy and laugh at yourself about it. take care.
I started my blog when I went to Panama in Feb.2006, thinking that was about as interesting a trip as I would ever make since leaving my home on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Now I realize that each of us lives in an interesting place to anyone who doesn't live there. So enjoy some of my blogs that take place in my own backyard. ... full info
