France/Spain
Welcome back Denis. I believe good old Tassie is beautiful and fresh. I'm off to Paris in August, a bit of cycling in Tours and kayaking on the Dordogne river, then to Spain and Singapore. Might see you one day.....happy tramping in Tassie!

Corned Beef
It is hard to believe that for some reason Dennis did not like the superb corned beef offered in his sandwiches, he seemed to think that the stuff found in Australia was supperior.

Hey Dennis Thanks for the update. GB is great, we only visited part of the south and the Lakes in the west, all beautiful. Weather looks good so have fun. Finally we have a minority government led by Labour, majority 2, after a long drawn out birth - the Nats are already kniving?? the Independents - hope none resigns, gets sick or dies or we are back to the polls - interesting times. I have always felt the Brits conduct their politics with style and a heavy dose of good grace, not like us wild colonials! Take care. S and M

Great spot
Hi Dennis, I'll try again, my previous comment never showed. Was about you not whinging anymore. Food good, accommodation great, staff fantastic, all that sort of things. Yes, Venice is an impressive place. We've been there twice. First time had black and white film in the camera by accident ... Where you are now is one of the most impressive part of the Alps. We've been there on winter holidays several times, loved it, has this mix of atmosphere, Italian and Austrian. That's a great research you are doing, tasting big Paulaners. Keep researching. Most times the housewines are not that bad either.

Happy Cycling
Yeah Denbut, keep your travelling stories coming. Keep us less fortunate (well, only a wee bit) peoples informed and jealous! I'll be Lake Como in 3 weeks time! ciao

That's better
Hi Dennis, well, that's better. No more whinging. Conquered the jetlag I reckon. Now we read: cycling is easy going, accommodation aboard is good, food excellent, crew fantastic and bar well-stocked. Stay away from the tourist trap-area and the pickpockets. Sometime there's as many of them as flies in Oz.

Whingin Ozzie
Hi Dennis, you better beware not to become a whinging Ozzie. The long haul: you knew that when you booked and it's noting like the 42 hours from Casino, Lismore, Brisbane, Amsterdam, Alkmaar we once endured. Space invading five year old: aren't children sweet, poppy. Heathrow terminal: couldn't you just close your eyes and doze. Scorchers in Italy: there you have them al last and what do you expect from Italy in summer. Apparently, as not mentioned, you were not in the good red wine mood yet. You'll get there. Have fun. Willem

Change your schedule
Hi Dennis, great that the last trip was so good. But hey, you should have changed your schedule. I mean, coming back to Italy in August... It's almost August! So if you do more of this kind of travelling in the future, find yourself a little base camp in the hills of, let's say, Tuscany. Write a book or two, take a hike, do some cycling, drink a glass or two with the locals. Saves a lot of flying. See you in December. Willem and Ageeth, Ann to you.

Just a quick hello
Enjoyed meeting you on the Almalfi tour overall thought we had a good time. We finished our trip with the four nights in Rome, saw most of the interesting sights but got over Rome real quick just another large horrible city, finally got the taste of traffic fumes out of my mouth with some good old New Zealand fresh air. Remember the death defying bus ride into the mountains, i thought i'd never go through a ride like that again, i was wrong. We had the most harrowing ride in a taxi to Rome airport, in and out of traffic at around 160kph and then the big road rage chase for the last 10 or so kms to the airport, i am sure we were staring death in the face a few times. Good luck with the rest of your travels. If you get a chance would you be able to email the pig picture, i was talking to a mate of mine about it. Cheers, will keep in touch Ian and Heather Holmes

Almost a scorcher at last
So it's almost a scorcher at last. Bare arms. Have not seen them on your blog for a while. And shorts next time? Wine list? Wine encyclopedia you mean! That cellar must have been even bigger than yours ;-) Leg must be pretty ok, given that you dont mention it. Good on ya. Willem and Ageeth

proud & jealous
Well done to maintain your fibercast anklesupport for a whole week .... proud of you ...time to remove it and to rebirth your glorious natural foot again ! And jealous not to be able to join you on your grazing journey through culinary Italy. I bet it will take you less than 5 years to sell your beach villa in Indented Head and to settle somewhere in Toscany ... near a local restaurant of course.

Private photographer?
Hi Dennis, good to read that your ankle gets better. But hey, who's your private photographer? And you don't mention the weather but I see no sign of Italian scorchers yet.

Italian food
Hej Dennis, nice to read your stories! Too bad I couldn't be there when you visited, I live in Copenhagen now and you are always most welcome to come and visit when in Scandinavia. The spring has just begun after a harsh winter so its nice. Even though five high might be troublesome with an anckle like that. Enjoy the Italian food over there in Sicily, it doesn't get more Italian than that. And I agree, it is quite amazing how they can make their food so simple but still delicious. mmm, you definitally made my mouth water. Enjoy, Kees
