san marcos is a top place, its a bit "far out" if u compare it to your average UK town, but its a good place with good people...and of course on the stunning lake. I stayed at las piramedes to have a look as they run a lunar long course, i liked it so stayed for all of it - this entailed a lunar cycle long course of early morning yoga, metaphysics in the late morning, some guided meditation late afternoon and calm yoga in the evening (you didnt have to go to everything just do what and when you felt [View Full Entry]

hi all, well i have been a busy boy. I Took a night bus down to antigua in southern guatemala via guatemala city. my yank/oz pals went up to balize so we parted. Antigua is surrounded by 2 massive volcanos and is a really pretty place, more touristy than anywhere ive been so far tho due to lots of spanish schools. I got some 1 on 1 spanish lessons for £2.50 an hour with free drinks. This used to be the centre for the spanish in the 16th century for all the americas. stayed at the wonderful negro gato - again [View Full Entry]

hi all, I was asleep on the 9hr night bus to palenque and it was about -4 degrees due to over AC use and i was woken by a military looking dude wielding a shooter telling everyone to get off the bus, it was around 4 in the morning and all bags where taken off the bus by 10 or so military and searched. not sure who they where or what but eventually we where allowed on our way. wierd. got to palenque to a beautiful sunrise at 6am and checked in at the maya-bell in the jungle (tents, cabanas and [View Full Entry]

Bye Tulum Hi Merida

North America » Mexico » Yucatán » Merida
hope your all well and that the autumn is not too cold. spent the mexico day of independence in Tulum. This consists of the whole nation sinking gallons of tiqula (which I have never liked and wont go near) but its a carnival in every street with the most awful out of tune brass bands on the planet. An ex public school brigaderes son from Chelsea 'Tom (whom i call master Henshaw) and i where looking for a bar in a jungly part of the coast where we stumbled across a massive film crew filming Bulgarian Temptation Island - we nearly [View Full Entry]

Autumn 07 trip

North America » Mexico » Quintana Roo » Tulum
Arrived in Mexico on 8th September and had my own minibus for £18 for 100km :-) saw a big moped pile up and some1s leg was well and truly snapped - ouch. Tulum is 100km south of cancun - quiet bohemien mexican town, with a real mixture of people from all over the world. Stayed at the no electricity cabanas (huts on beach) for 3 nights then went into tulum town and staying at the "weary traveller" - hammocks in the garden and good people. The cabanas where awesome and they had free early morning yoga and untold different massages. Went [View Full Entry]
