I know it has been forever since I've updated but I guess I should complete my blog! England was GORGEOUS. After being in the city in Valencia for four months it was amazing to see green all around me again. I can't remember all the details so I will blog by picture this time. Stop #1: Salisbury Home/birthplace to William Golding, author of Lord of the Flies Salisbury Cathedral. Tallest church spire in the UK, currently undergoing lots of work. Just a beautiful, small, old town where we had a delicious lunch at a pub. Stop #2: Stonehenge It's all theory. It is NOT UFOs. The weather is gorgeous here right now! Last week I woke up to be at the beach by 10:30am to meet up with some of my friends. It was already 73 degrees at that time and it only got warmer all day. The beach was filled with people. My friend Morgan and I had a class at 3:00pm that I we planned on going to but when 2:00pm came we weren't ready to leave; we skipped class to stay at the beach. It would be a shame to have studied all semester and never once skipped class for the beach! I don't regret my decision :) I had only missed that class one other time when I went to Dublin. It’s Spring Break at the University of Valencia from April 3-20 so I had the opportunity to travel to Naples with Jacob. It was the most beautiful weekend I have ever spent; I saw colors I didn’t know existed. We arrived on Thursday night in Naples just in time to go get some pizza from its original home. If I didn’t already love Italian food enough, I love it even more now. I ate a lot of delicious pizza, pasta, and gelato. I’ll explain what we did by place; we just stayed in Naples and took day trips everyday. CAPRI: On Friday we took a hydrofoil to the Island of Capri - my first time ever on an island! I am living in the most beautiful city I have ever seen and I have nearly the entire month of April to explore all of it! The weather is wonderful. I was out with friends last night walking through Plaza de la virgen and Barrio del Carmen and still couldn't believe that I'm here; I never get sick of it. And today, I spent time at the beach, warm enough to be in my bathing suit even! There is something so special about getting to share this city with those dearest to me: Alex, Jacob, and mom and dad. March in Valencia is CRAZY and it flew by. Everyday at 2:00p.m. starting on March 1st we went to Mascleta in la Plaza de Ayuntamiento. During Mascleta a different organization each day competes for the loudest fireworks. Bombs is a more appropriate word for fireworks in this sense though, sometimes it is pretty but I didn't go to watch; I went to feel the ground tremble. I miss going to Mascleta everyday. The weekend before Fallas actually began Jacob came to visit! I'm excited he got to experience Mascleta because it really cannot be described, only felt. We walked all over Valencia in 2 days. Jacob and I were finally reunited last weekend in the wonderful country of Ireland! It felt so good to see a familiar face. We had an amazing time and it was like we had never been apart. I'll just touch on our favorite things... 1. The shopping I would have never guessed that Ireland would have the best shopping I've seen yet in Europe. They had all the big chains but also stores I had never seen before. I didn't buy a lot because the stores unique to Dublin were too expensive. I did find some sandals for only 6E; I got three colors. 2. Nothing too big has happened since I last updated but I forget that my "daily life" isn't normal for all of you reading this so I'll just tell you a little bit about what I do and what has been happening. Valentine's Day weekend the Medieval Market was held in Valencia. It was in the Plaza de Toros (a bull fighting stadium). There were tons of vendors. Thank goodness I had just eaten lunch before I went because they had some of the most delicious looking food and snacks I had ever seen; I didn't try any of it! There was also a lot of different clothing and jewelry vendors; mostly all handcrafted. It was very cool. Barcelona was GORGEOUS; a great place to visit, but I could never live there. When we got there the bus drove us up a hill so we could get try to get a view of the entire city. It is huge and we got a view of the sea as well! Then, before checking in at the hotel we went to the Park Guell and saw some of Gaudi’s architecture. His work is intriguing; I wish I could have had the chance to visit the museum. After walking through the park we were very excited to see our hotel room and take long, warm showers. Last week flew by and we had a crazy Friday! For our Spanish Culture class we took a field trip to La Lonja; it's really not that exciting or pretty so I didn't take any pictures of it. But right across the street was "el mercado central." It's this huge building filled with meat, seafood, pastry, fruit, and vegetable shops. Everything is so fresh; maybe too fresh! The seafood was still crawling, eyes remain on the FULL bodies of animals, along with fur and eyelashes! Mom and Dad, I am taking you there when you visit Valencia, it is an experience that cannot be missed.
