We arrived a couple of days early in Greenvile, was great getting there before the crowds. Gave us an opportunity to have some down time and to check out the local sights and food. Pearl and Roy were the first to arrive had dinner with them at "Sticky Fingers" what an awesome place. Wonderful ribs and pulled pork. We couldn't believe Roy ate his whole dinner by himself and not sharing with Pearl ..... the manager was great stopped by to talk to us and when we were ready to leave he give us both a 6 pack of rib sauces. There are so many Gold Wing Trikes arriving, we have never seen so many trikes in one place at the same time. This is the largest Wing Ding that I have seen in many years ... read more

Hello from the Atlantic Ocean. Todate we have traveled over 4,600 miles, along the way we attended the "Honda Hoot" in Knoxville, TN their 15th Annual. We met up with Pat and Cheryl Barret and rode together on a beautiful ride doing the Cumberland Gap also we took a Riverboat ride for breakfast and the highlight of the closing ceremonies was an unbelievable concert by Wynonia Judd. The concert was worth the price of admission. On Sunday we said so long to Pat and Cheryl as they had to make their way back to WA State. We decided to spent our time between Honda Hoot and Wing Ding doing some sightseeing. So we headed North with WA DC as our initial destination. Along the way we managed to find the Shanondoah Parkway and rode several miles ... read more

Cumberland Gap Ride Cumberland Gap (el. 1600 ft./488 m.) is a pass through the Cumberland Mountains region of the Appalachian Mountains, also known as the Cumberland Water Gap. We learned that this path was made more accessible for pioneer travel when Daniel Boone used 35 axmen to widen it. Due to his work, pioneers could use wagons to journey into the western frontiers of Kentucky and Tennessee. The Cumberland Gap Tunnel is a 4-lane twin-bore mountain tunnel that is 4,600 feet long, and it carries US-25E under Cumberland Gap between Tennessee and Kentucky, and it was completed in October 1996 at a cost of $280 million. We loved this tunnel so much we went thru the tunnel again, again and again, oh why not lets do it again...... The Cumberland Gap Ride was a road that ... read more

We were doing great beautiful day awesome road. Highway 9 is fantastic. Doug do you see that black cloud over there? What about that big white cloud over there? Oh my look at that White cloud, it is rolling at the top like "Pipe Line" does in Hawaii. Do you think that will become a storm? We decided to gas up if it is a thunderstorm or ? we better have a full tank of gas. It is getting pretty dark and the two clouds seem to be getting close together. That is how tornadoes form. Doug says we can out run this lets get going now. Hmmmm getting really windy now and darker. It's ok the road is starting to turn in another direction we will be ok, says Doug. I don't think we are ... read more

Toas New Mexico is beautiful arrived a little late so motels were scarce what was available were way to costly. When you arrive in Taos from the West the first thing you see is these funny little things sticking out of the little dirt humps in the ground. There are numerous homes buried under the humps. Beautiful when you look at them from the front side, all windows sticking out of the groung. No motel so we head out of town up in the hills around 10,000 feet there is this cute little campground in the wooded area with a Conestoga Covered wagon in front. Not bad $17 a night with bathrooms and showers. Real tricky for Doug to back the camper in, all gravel and on a sloped hillside but it was the closests to ... read more

Oh my, Oh My ..... ASPEN, CO This a so beautiful, last Wednesday they had 3 feet of snow and Independence Pass was closed. Today it was sunny and clear with no snow on the roads. It is so beautiful that we wanted to turn around and go back thru the pass just so we could see it going the other way. There is a Ghost Town towards the top of Independence Pass. Contintental Divide was over 12,000 feet the air was thin and the view was endless.... read more

Day 3 Stayed at a beautiful motel last night and had an awesome hot breakfast there before we headed South. We are un Utah mostly for the day thru Bingham City with lunch at Duchesnbe, Utah. 73 Degrees and sunny. Stayed off the freeway most of the day in the high desert country of Utah and Colorado. Saw this awesome "Devils Slide". Lonny you would love it it is long and would be fast to go down with a zip sled in the snow. One of the dams was so full that it was overflowing from the TOP of the spill along with dumping water thru the spill way. We are Moteling it again in Meeker, Colorado hopefully heading to Aspen in the morning. The news isn't too promising about us going that way they are ... read more

Where did you say we were?

Got a late start due to weather. We left around noon and headed South on I-5 in a light mist that soon disappeard as we headed into Oregon. First stop was Multnomah Falls as Doug had never been there. East of John Day Dam was a big beautiful DAHL sheep right along side the road and above him was a whole herd of them and about 200 feet down the Highway were two more and no camera. Of course it was in the trunk of the bike. First night was at a motel in Pendleton, Oregon, NO RAIN but chilly down in the 40s and high 50s. Day 2 much better sunny and around 70. We stopped to get gas and saw this sign "Red Neck Cafe" Doug said we gotta get a picture of that ... read more

SKIPPER Skipper is 4 years old he will be 5 in August. He has been going to this beautiful for "Cats Only" Pet Lodge in Olalla, WA for 4 summers. This is his home away from home. Rhonda is the owner of this Pet Lodge she is awesome with Skipper, she has the best understanding of cats, their likes, dislikes, wants and needs even "Skipper". Skipper is a excellent traveler, he has a travel carrier that he starts out in but once we are on the highway he comes out from under his blankets, stuffed teddy bear and unstuffed COW that he craweled under when we first leave the house. He will sit on my lap or check everything out in the car and then go back to the carrier but usually not without voicing his ... read more
