Hello from bangkok! So... its been an interestin first week and a bit in Thailand involving trips to pharmacies and Health promoting hospitals as well as a few very good touristy trips, and mixed weather (all the locals are surprised at the amount of rain). Our first 2 nights here were spent in the backpackers capital of Bangkok - Khaosan Road, which was ok but not exactly our cup of tea, although the market was good and the atmosphere lively. We also realised that being bitten was to become part and parcel of everyday here, slightly annoyin after the respite from mosquitos and other various bitey insects in China! After 2 nights we made our way down to Koh Chang by bus and boat. When the taxi dropped us off as close as he could to ... read more

Hello all This is our final bulletin from the beautiful South Africa. Over the last week or so we have been doing the tourist thing around Cape Town itself. Firstly we drove down to Boulders Beach to visit the penguins, where we saw eggs, baby and toddler penguins all at the same time. We also went up the cable car on Table Mountain because it was far too hot too walk something that a couple we met at the top said was a wise decision. We also finally saw the World Cup football stadium from the top of the mountain. We have been to two fantastic restaurants - Moyo and Die Strandloper. Moyo was not really a restaurant, more an African dining experience where we ate at a table in the treetops trying all sorts. Die ... read more

Hello.. so the the second part of the Garden Route. Day 4 and 5- Plettenberg Bay These days we stayed at Plet bay in a hostel called Amakaya, lovely place with the lady called Mary who loved (and more than Charlie if that is possible) Cricket! The first day was our first encounter of rain which made Cassie very grumpy so we went to see the Monkeys and Birds of Eden to try and cheer her up. First we went to monkey land- where we saw a variety of money including a rare white gibbon and a micheal jackson monkey. We went on the longest swing bridge where they filmed Indiana Jones. Our guide repeated himself a lot, although so much so we still cant remember what he said! And as we left we managed to ... read more

Hello to all! So we arrived back to base last night having driven the Graden Route over the past 7 days. Day One- Mossel Bay We left at about 11am and after 4.5 hours driving arrived in Mossel Bay. Along the way we realised that we could not charge the SatNav up after we had used all its battery so it was up to us and our map reading abilities from here on in (I say us - I mean Cassie). The N2 (the major road we dove along) was just a highway up over mountain ranges and we were surrounded by scenes you could only dream of on the m25 or m1! Upon arriving in Mossel Bay we were told at the first camp site that our van with bed in was not allowed into ... read more

Hello people So this is our 3rd day here and already we are melting!! We spent the first day and a half relaxing in out own private rooms at Cassies Nans with a swimming pool- heaven in the heat. There are baby ducks which Cassie has got besotted with and we just about know the names of the 6 dogs. Today we went to watch the 4th day at the test cricket between south africa and india- unfortunately we didnt see tendulkar bat but we did see him take a wicket which is rarer than seeing him get a test century. It was about 40 deg and we had to buy a flag just to cover cassie up for 15 mins until we were in the shade! Cassie got told she was white and that she ... read more
