Last week I decided to go to Singapore. I had the entire week off of school and the airfare was cheap, so why not? I ended up leaving on Monday and coming back on Friday, which worked out really well because it gave me three full days there. In those 3 days I think I did everything; Singapore is a small country to begin with. It's easy to get places because there is a really good public transportation system, taxi's are cheap, and everyone speaks English (in fact, it is their National language although most people also speak Chinese, Timil, or Malaysian). While I was there it was really hot and humid, which was wonderful because I spent one day at the beach of Sentosa Island. Other than that, I went to Chinatown, Little India, the ... read more

I had an entire week off from school last week because of Spring Break (I think it's called Easter break here because it's actually Autumn, not Spring). For the break, I went with a few friends to Exmouth which is North of Perth. We did a guided bus tour because we figured it would be easiest and we would probably get the most out of it. On the way to Exmouth, we stopped at the Pinnacles Desert which is a desert area that has big limestone formations that came from tree roots. We also stopped at Monkey Mia (famous for it's dolphins), the Murchinson Gorge, Shell Beach, Coral Bay (where I went snorkling from a glass-bottom boat), the Principality of Hutt River, a wildlife park, and Exmouth! In Exmouth, I went scuba diving at the Ningaloo ... read more

Sorry about not updating my blog for a while...I got busy with school for a while. Speaking of which, school is going well so far, I'm actually enjoying my classes! Between school and work, the only thing I've really done is visit Rottnest Island, which is such a beautiful place!! I was only there for one day (and the ferry takes about 2 hours) so all I really got to do on the island was snorkle, but it was so much fun and I saw amazing reefs and fish (even a sting ray!). Also, the island has quakkas! Quakkas are a type of marsupial, smaller than a kangaroo, that are only indegeneous to Rottnest Island! It was such a wonderful experience!!... read more

Well....classes start in two days, so I just been trying to see as much of the town as I can before I get too busy with school work. Yesterday, I went on a tour of Perth with the Student Exchange program on Campus. We went to Perth City, Freemantle (a port town area with lots of shops and cafes), and Cottesloe (the beach that I went to a few days ago). Today, I had to go to the grocery store and do errands to get ready for school, so nothing too exciting happened today. Anyway, I have a couple of pictures from Scarborough (a beach I went to on Thursday) and a picture of Perth City.... read more

Lets see...yesterday I went wine tasting with a few other students on exchange. We went to an area called Swan Valley and visited 3 wineries and 1 chocolate factory! Today, I enrolled in classes. Them I went to the on campus pub called The Tavern with a few of my room mates and saw an authentic Australian band play; the band's name is Jebidiah. That's all for now. ... read more

Today I went to Cottesloe Beach in Perth with some people I met in the Vickory flats (mostly other Americans). In order to get to the beach we had to use the public transportation system which is fairly cheap but takes a long time (it took about 45 minutes to get to the beach). We had to take a bus and then a train to get there! It was a pretty beach and the weather was beautiful today, so that was good. The water was fairly clear, but there was quite a bit of seaweed in it. We went to a reasturant beside the beach for lunch and I had authentic Australian fish and chips. It was delicious! And I found out that Australians don't tip at all. Apparently, minimum wage here is $17. Before we ... read more

Well, I just got to Perth, Australia today. I haven't seen much of the area yet, but I like it so far. The plane flight was incredibly long, luckily everything went without a hitch! I'm glad to be back on land and I'm ready to take a shower and go to bed. I'm going to try to add a few more pictures from my trip to Tahoe. Sorry if the photos don't really go together with the blog entry.... read more

TAHOE ~ SIERRA NEVADA I have been in Tahoe for a week and a half (I leave for AUSTRALIA in 3 days!). There is so much to do here and it is so pretty! For the first few days after I arrived, it was cold and snowed constantly...it was the most snow I have ever seen! So far, I have learned to snowboard, eaten a California sushi roll IN California, driven around the entire Lake Tahoe, seen Sierra Nevada, ice skated outdoors, hugged a Giant Sequoia, learned to use a snow blowing machine thingy, and visited Reno, Carson City, Tahoe City, and parts of California that are located near the boarder. Lake Tahoe is amazing!... read more
