Mrs. Rebecca Trancis You brought a tear to my eye in that last paragraph! I dont' know if I ever really said it, but you said it well, a trip and memories that will last a lifetime! xo
Shopping!??? So - did you buy another backpack to carry all your purchases - just send another package this way - we'll be happy to take care of your stuff for you! Sounds great - are there any local gemstones or metals that the people make jewelry from, to sell? (Hint)
Paradise! For sure! This sounds like a "Holiday," and you've had the best luck - great surf and calm beach in the same week! Sounds "mahvelus, dahling!" Wish I could be there... Good for keeping up with the diving experiences - underwater cameras on hand? At the beach playing card games, drinking monkey juice and eating seafood with new Irish friends - who could ask for anything more! Nice going.
Love the treks Hi Bec! Amazing nature - hope you took some pics of that flower, I'm curious... do the people use it for anything? Can you pick it for a bouquet...fertilizer!...prize for a card game... So, is your new weapon of choice the blowdart? All that spitball practice in Mr. Delve's class has paid off? The tea sounds like a nice treat... much different from the tea here? Great to hear of your adventures!
jealous! Hey Becky, I finally finished catching up on all your entries. It sounds like an amazing time! Now I can't stop thinking about where I want to go next...I'm torn between Thailand and Vietnam, but leaning towards Thailand. A serious question: if you have to ride buses or trucks for hours and hours, what do you do when you have to go to the washroom? I cry at that thought.
Terrific descriptions! You make me wish I were there, too! It sounds so beautiful, and the people seem so open to meeting and engaging with you - makes the whole experience much more meaningful for you. Great prose! Love, Mom.
Wow Wow I cant believe May had never had hot chocolate. We take so many things for granted here! That town sounds beautiful! You make me want to travel Becky!
the irony! becks, unbelievably well spoken and written, as you captured the detail remarkably accurately. I can remember being there like it was yesterday - and I am affraid I always will. For example, I'll never ever forget the one living thing left at the killing fields.. a lonesome, aged, though powerful and sturdy shadey oak tree. To think of the attrocities she has beared witness to over the years, yet she lives on representing a glimmer of life where there was once hell.
Wow! Hi Becca- Glad to hear you are having such fantastic adventures. some stories you will have to tell your grandchildren! You have already written a interesting book. Keep up the great blogging! Sorry I have not gootten back to you sooner, but I do not usually check this e-mail address. Try jennianfrancis@hotmail.com. You may get a faster response. Take care, and keep on having fun!
Good call on the slow boat! Beck! I'm so happy to hear you opted for the slow boat! Jord and I were forced to take the speed boat as our visa's were about to expire. No exageration - it was the worst 8 hours of my life - squished into a 2x2 space wearing helments and ear plugs! We're so happy to be alive! Luang Prabang was one of our favourites! Way better than Vientienne. Enjoy the night market in Laung Prabang - simply beautiful quilts and duvet covers (I'm so glad that I splurged and bought one!) Please know that I'm living vicariously through you right now! I miss travelling sooooooooooooooooo much! Sounds like you're having an absolute blast! Loved the pig story! I can totally picture it! Enjoy every second - as it will be over before you know it!
xo Britt
Great pictures! Just looked at your most recent pics! I see you have the talent for artistic photography like Greg. I like the old shoe one! Your trip sounds amazing, and I love reading all your entries. Keep'em comin'!
getting'er done! becks.. and erin.. and ev.. and brook (who i don't know as much) - you're gonna dig the trek soooooo much! I did it my first week also, and was probably among the top memories of the entire trip. You may not be used to the altitude, or the slope, or the sheer length of the climb.. but bring some water.. pack lightly, and support each other - the summit will be remarkably worth it - a guarantee if you will!!
have fun ya'll!
(minor suggestion.. rent bicycles where appropriate.. so fun, and you'll cover more ground too - a thought?!)
love ya'll.. dre
all the best for ur Bangkok trip! dun forget to visit the floating market of Bangkok when u r there.
good luck!
Sincerely,
Perry
