Hello! Oh my god, a very BELATED CONGRATS on your wedding! Looks amazing! I haven't been getting your updates because I changed my e-mail address after homechoice going mad, being taken over by tiscali and my e-mail address vanishing into the ether! but I perservered and today found it again, and have been catching up on all your news! Looks absolutely amazing, you're living the dream as they would say on one of these cheesy American talent shows! I'm glad that you were in Jo'burg in July and not in June because that is when I was there for my annual work trip. I would have been gutted if we were just streets away without knowing it!!
So how much longer are you two out there for? Are you qualified? How many more countries do you get to visit as part of your travels/training?
My new e-mail address is knightkirsten@googlemail.com. Can you sign me up to receive your alerts please? I'll try and do it too via the website, it'll work somehow!
I'll be in SA again next year - likely Cape Town and Jo'burg, but not in June due to football fever, probably March time. Maybe we can hook up somewhere!!
Anyway, keep on having fun!
Byeeeee
Kirsten
PS still doing photography with Rachael, and no, haven't been back to any awards ceremonies!!!
Congratulations! Hi to you both,
The photos look fab. Wish I had been there to see it. That will be some tale to tell the grand-kids. Did the mums have a great time? Looks like they did.
So not homesick for England then? Your not missing much, just crap weather, swine flu and recession.
Finally finished school yesterday after 3 really busy weeks. Really looking forward to having some me time now.
Spent last Thursday at the hospital with Becky. She decided to sew her finger rather than the material while in her textiles lesson. Her teacher had kindly removed the foot on the machine that holds the needle in place and told her it would be easier. 7 hours later, finally removed broken needle from her finger (had gone right through).
Kelsey still at Sainsburys, but looking for a different job as she is beginning to get fed up with early start. Driving lessons going ok but costing her a fortune. Tom just finished second year but has decided to change courses and is thinking about going into TEACHING!
Anyway what's next for you both are you going to stay in Africa longer?
Keep in touch
Love tracy X
Great blog! Sandra and Matt,
Great blog! I really enjoyed reading about your adventures in Africa. We lived in Nigeria for a few years and reading what you wrote bought back memories!

Awesome photos! Wow, wow, wow. I love the frog and turtles! I can't believe what you two guys have been up to. Fabulous experience. I so want to me out there with you experiencing such a wonderful time. We have just returned from a two week ski holiday in Whistler, Canada. We have had a lovely time and really struggling to cope with the work load and awful depression in the UK. You certainly chose the right time for your adventures. I will continue to read the blog with interest and great envy. I have to say, I don't envy you with the shower and facilities - I hope this won't be what I face in May !!! Take care both of you. Love Andrea

Ola Hi Guys,
I know you said not to reply but I felt compelled. Two things spring to mind;
1. The fact you have done qualifications to do thd dangerous animal guiding thing is amazing, I'm really proud of you and have already relayed this to a few of my friends. Well done you sound like you are having a blast!
2. Matt, why are you still so fat? mate, I would have though that rations, and limited food that you would have lost weight. Or is it that you were so tremendolously fat before you went that you have lost a lot of weight, but still appear whale like? I'm baffled.
Take care guys, and I'm assuming you won't come back (I wouldn't if I were you), but if you do, I can't wait to catch up with you.

p.s. Louise and Joe moved out last week, but the worst thing was that they took the cat with them. I miss her so much! Who would have thought it, at least I get to see Joe, but man, that cat might as well have been squashed by a garbage truck.
glad it was a happy one... I also had Xmas braaing...albeit at a pool... A white Christmas seems very unappealing. Looking forward to hearing about the Mozambique leg!
Love to you both
Teresa
HILARIOUS!!! More stories please!!! He's the most lovely person on Earth but, still, bless him, hapless.... there's a bestseller in there somewhere!

The Cheetahs are beautiful! I have just managed to find some time to read your blog. Wow, so much has been happening since I last looked. You guys are having such an amazing experience although i shudder to see the snakes and scorpions. I absolutely loved the last story about the cheetahs - aren't they beautiful - you are both so lucky to come into such close contact with the magical animals. Bit scared of the shooting and the skills you have managed to acquire - steady chaps!! take care and keep posting your experiences. We love to see them whilst we sit in ice and snow and full of stress and exhaustion!

Cat's Nails at Cape Point The red plant goes by the name of Hyobanche Sanguinea or, more colloquially, Cat's Nails or Inkplant. It's a form of fynbos, found in sandy, coastal areas from Cape Point to Namibia.
It's a decidedly weird-looking plant.
I discovered the name a few days ago, having come across fields of it covering the plain above the Thomas T. Tucker - I'd stumbled across it infrequently till then.
Right now, I'm looking for the name of a wreck north of the Tucker, visited this past Saturday after the storm. Between it and the Tucker (and to the south of that the Nolloth, is the boiler of another ship, the name of which I also haven't a clue).
It's a beautiful, but wild place. I hope you enjoyed your stay and plan on returning sometime soon...
yes sandra, schools are back and yes nothing has changed, year 7 are still tiny with blazers that are too big! landy looks fabulous, im just a little worried at the positioning of the tent! is it designed to keep you up high out of the way of any passing lions?!?!
Why beach, berg and bush?
After resigning from work, and Matt getting a sabbatical we are shortly off to Africa for a year of exciting experiences, mainly spent on the beach, up mountains (berg) and exploring the bush.
After saving for so long for a wedding it seemed ridiculous to spend a huge amount of money on one night so everyone else can get drunk. So we've decided to use it to broaden our horizions, and hopefully put some of it to better use than beer!!! Although is there a better use?
We leave on Aug 12th for Cape Town (Staying at the flat in Simonstown) where we'll be for 5 w... full info

Date?
Hi There. When were you there? I am interested in the fact that you camped on your own far away from the others. Cheers Ina
