Biking and hiking
Lynda, I am so proud of you! My only concern is that you are going to wear your body out before its' time. :-) You are a wonderful writer. Have I told you that? You are able to bring things to life with your words. Thank you for including me and especially for the pictures. WOW! Can't wait to see you and hear about everything in person. Stay safe, Penny

Thought of you today!
Lynda: I was thinking about you today, wondering what you were up to these days. Computers are amazing! I not only discovered that you had joined the Peace Corp (which didn't surprise me), and went to Thailand, but that you also had gotten married in Thailand less than a week ago. (Must have been telepathy that led me to look you up today). I really do want to wish you the best of everything. You look so happy in those pictures and your wedding looks like it exceeded any wedding you could have predicted for yourself in your mind. The whole affair looks like a total culmination of your life and the freedom in which you have always chosen to live. I want to wish you and Bob every happiness. No one can ever say that you haven't lived your life to the fullest. Again, congratulations and best of luck. I really am very happy for you. Marcy

What a Unique Wedding
Thank you so very much for sharing in the forms of your usual stylish writing and pics for your special day. Wow, how unique can you get. It really would have been something to attend and so glad you got to have at least some family there. Only one thing to dispute...the comment about the marriage lasting....don't think I've ever seen two people more in love and joy than what I did in these pics. Can't wait to soak up some of that loving energy when you get back stateside and have your reception. I am sure it was such a joy for all the people involved in the planning of your celebration to give back some of what I am sure you have given them. Plain old unconditional love. Love you two and hope to see you both soon, Linda

Blessings
Hi Lynda and Bob, Thought I would add one more blessing to the mix, but after reading your page, I don't think you'll need it. What a wonderful wedding! I am so impressed with what you've done with your time in the peace corp. and also that you've found the perfect man to fit your life style. You will carry these memories with you forever! We miss you and can't wait to see you when you get home. We'll have to have another party, but it will have to start much later in the evening so you'll remember it. Love Evelyn

I enjoyed your Thailand post and photos... made me want to go back there! I was glad to hear that things are okay for the most part, outside of Thailand. My blog is looking for travel photos, stories, etc, to share. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email me at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com. Continued fun on your travels! Try to visit a Burmese market if you can, they sell some crazy stuff on the Thai/Burma borders! Heather :)

RE: Great Photos and stories
Sawadee Kah Lynda, I was just speaking about you to Ginette yesterday wondering if she had heard from you. Then your email blog came today-how timely. Thanks for putting together the photos and stories and letting the world know what else is going on around the other regions of Thailand. It is indeed sad what is going on in Bangkok. Before I left in March it was rumored that there was to be a massive demonstration. I don't think anyone dreamed it would have gotten this bad. I was skyping with a Thai friend last night who works at the hospital in BKK but has not been able to go to work in two weeks. Stay safe and continue all the great work you do. Linda Nathanson

thank you
Hi Lynda: Thanks so much for all the wonderful pics (even though some of them were hard to look at). All in all it does look like a beautiful country and as a US citizen I am so proud of what you are doing over there. Guess you heard Penny turned down a recall from furlough....just did not make any sense financially or otherwise. Bless her heart, put her in a frenzy for a few days. Mainly the health insurance part which we have been fighting with for years and years. She has watched us and doesn't want to put herself in that situation. Take care of your self and keep the info coming, Love, Linda

Hi Linda, What an amazing experience. I'm so proud of you. You lead a very cool life and are not sitting by letting it pass you by like so many of us do. I can't wait to see all your pics when you get back and catch up. I've been keeping tabs on you thru Cookie but I was happy that Kathy sent me your link. Love and miss you, Laurie xoxoxoxo

Enjoying your photos
Dear Linda, Sawadee Ka! I been back from Thailand and Indonesia for one week now. Sorry I did not get a chance to contact you or make it up to Northern Thailand. I broke my arm and though I had a great time (in spite of the arm) it made travel out of Bangkok challenging. I did travel and did volunteer work in Bali at a place called Santang Hati. A rehab center for victims of polio. I was gone two months and have learned tons. Been writing the whole time and trying to collate it altogether. I have had a hard time with re-entry to the Western world. I can't imagine what you will go through after two years. Yikes. I am writing to say thank you for posting. It was soothing today to read your email and see photos and hear of things that make sense. I will be seeing your cousin, Ginette this Wednesday. Take care. Linda

Wow!
Interesting details on the ordination ceremony- that's why I love reading your blog. Also enjoyed the photos immensely. I fell out of my chair seeing the McCain/Palin t-shirt, though. Too funny! Take care and be safe, my friend! - Debbie

Oh my gosh, it's Bernie!!! Thought you vanished from the planet. Just by accident I checked my blog comments and there you were from Dec. So how have you been? As Marvin mentioned I'm here in Thailand doing a 2 year stint with the Peace Corps. Have just finished my 1st year and enjoying myself. How about giving me your e-mail address and perhaps we can catch up on the last several years. My best, Lynda e-mail bcgypsey@gmail.com

Umbrella
Vicki, These umbrellas are all made from paper but treated with some glue like substance to make them waterproof. Most of the umbrellas I've seen in use are like the ones we buy at home. These seem to be used for decorations.

Go Girl!
Great pictures Lynda, enjoyed them so much. So happy to hear you safely returned and back to traveling again. The weather sounds inviting and everything is so colorful and the people look happy. We are doing well, keeping busy and trying to get the house next door ready for new renter. Having most work done, inside painted, hardwood laminate and carpeting done. Dry here a few days, been working outside, so refreshing! Take care. Look forward to your next "caper". Blessings.

congratulations!
Hi Lynda, Just heard the news that you're getting married in Thailand! How exciting! I guess having a companion and one who doesn't take no for an answer has finally paid off. I'm excited for you. I've loved reading your travel logs. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Joyce is so excited about coming to see you! She's had a tough year and deserves some time to herself. She might even want to become more like her Mom, which wouldn't be bad at all. Hope you guys have a wonderful time. I think we are heading to Italy in March if everything works out. The girls are doing good. No major problems in that area. Rich and I are adjusting to retirement. We would travel more but we still have 2 more years with the girls. Have a great final year! Evelyn

Unbrella Question
Hi Lynda! It was good to see you at Jazzercise................I'm wondering if the paper umbrellas are used for rain protection, and if so, how do they waterproof them? Or do they use a different kind for the rain and the paper ones for sun??? Vicki B.

Wonderful descriptions!
Love the color in your photos and descriptions! What a peaceful way for your neighbor to pass away and what a wonderful way to celebrate her life. I would love to be one of those people fitting in a visit with you - as my buddy Joyce is. I guess I'll just have to be content with our random meeting in North Bend! I have no doubt you are making a difference to those you touch there. Love, Deb

Health care
Dennis, you are so right and don't get me started on the nonsensical bullshit arguments about socialized medicine. I just wrote my Senator, Harry Reid about giving Americans the same health coverage HE has...we deserve nothing less! Yes, that is Bob my boyfriend and I'm very lucky to have him...no one else can handle me. Been trying to catch up with you on skype...heard you'll come back to Bkk in May, great. Talk soon, Lynda
